Lamborghini Aventador S VS. Tesla Model SP100D

June 25th, 2019

Who would ever think that a total electric sedan would be held in contention with a legendary Italian sports car when it comes to running the quarter-mile? Well, Tesla changed our way of thinking. First, it was the Tesla Roadster. Now the SP100D is the all-electric bad boy.

With the equivalent of 680hp and a shocking (pun intended) 900 lb.-ft. of torque, the Tesla sedan is virtually unrivaled at cutting a light and coming out of the hole. Its power is transferred immediately and its all-wheel drive capabilities make traction consistent and secure. After that, another weakness is not exhibited until it gets over 100 mph.

The Lamborghini Aventador S is an innovative machine in its own right. With a 730hp 6.5-liter V12 engine and an all-wheel drivetrain the Aventador S is not your huckleberry. In most any street race, the Lambo would be the hands down favorite. Against this electric contraption – it’s anybody’s guess.

The first race is of the dig variety. The two drivers talk a bit of smack and line up for the start. As the flag drops, the SP100D lunges forward and takes the lead. He holds on through the halfway point. Past halfway, the Lamborghini starts to gain. Entering the trap, the Italian Bull is in control and gets the win.

Next up is a roll race. It is decided that start speed will be 35 mph and they’ll race to 110 mph. This will give the Tesla a distinct advantage but it’s all in good fun. Sure enough, the electric machine takes this one.

Then there’s the braking. You gotta see this one.
