Former Top Gear Stig Test Drives 1577HP Bugatti Chiron Super Sport

November 2nd, 2021

As a former Stig from Britain’s popular automotive television show Top Gear, Ben Collins is the perfect candidate to put a $3.9-million Bugatti Chiron through its paces on street or track. Keeping Stig in check is his copilot, Andy Wallace. Andy is a driving legend with wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 24 Hours of Daytona (3 times), the 12 Hours of Sebring (2 times) and the Petit Le Mans 1,000 miles (1,600 km). Andy has been employed by Bugatti for the last 11-years.

Collins will have his hands full with the Chiron Super Sport. Powered by an 8-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the Chiron is capable of producing 1577hp and 1180 lb.-ft. of torque with a redline of 7100 RPM. The all-wheel drive Chiron can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3-seconds and has a top speed of 273 mph. It can turn the quarter-mile in 9.4-seconds @ 158 mph. This is obviously one of the most powerfully capable production cars on the planet.

Ben is just getting started when Andy explains that he is scaring the living daylights out of him. After a few more minimal driving maneuvers, Ben decides to try the Bugatti launch control. As advertised, the G-Forces are extraordinary.

Ben goes on to explain that a little voice in his head is encouraging him to press the accelerator farther to the floor. Will he succumb to these voices or be responsible in navigating these narrow mountain roads?
