Emelia Takes the Ferrari 296 to the Dragstrip
April 5th, 2023After installing a high-performance exhaust system on the borrowed Ferrari 296, our girl Emelia has set her sights on the quarter-mile hybrid world record. She has this Italian stallion dialed-in and ready to take on the Famoso Dragstrip in Kern County, California.
You may remember that the Ferrari 296 is a hybrid supercar that manufactures a ton of horsepower. This mid-engine masterpiece is powered by a 2.9-liter, 120-degree, twin turbocharged V6 engine and a lithium-ion powered electric motor. This combo can generate a boisterous 819hp. The automatic transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch.
While Emelia does not actually own the 296, she does have permission to abuse it as her own. Reckless abandonment will be required to set a new world record for a (pretty much) stock hybrid.
Right off the trailer, Emelia exceeds expectations with an initial pass of 9.80-seconds @ 145 mph. That is an incredibly good time in a car burning west coast pump gas and riding on street tires. As if that were not impressive enough, she logs a new personal best (and a world record) pass of 9.742-seconds @ 146 mph in her next outing.
Overall, it was a good day at the track for Emelia and the hot Italian.
