Daytime Street Hits – Chevy Camaro LT1 vs. BMW M5 Competition

February 6th, 2025

The sun is shining bright, and the pavement is hot as these two competitors cruise onto the interstate in Old Mexico for some roll racing. Word is that a bit of smack talk has resulted in bad blood between these two gearheads. No need for fisticuffs, here. These two will take it out in RPMs.

Representing the U.S.A. – in the right lane – is the Chevrolet Camaro LT1. Equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine, the LT1 version of the Camaro was rated at 450hp and 450 lb.-ft. of torque in stock condition. Shifting is handled by a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Camaro featured in this clip has been modified with some degree of porting (probably heads and intake), a set of exhaust headers and an E85 tune. This thing purrs like a kitten, then roars like a tiger.

Rolling out for the Germans is the all-wheel drive BMW M5 Competition. A luxury sedan with a twin turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine, the M5 Competition is capable of producing 667hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. It has an 8-speed automatic transmission. The nearly stock M5 (running in this race) has a full accoutrement of aftermarket bolt-ons and it is burning premium pump gas. This one looks like the sleeper of this contest.
