David and Goliath – Rail Job vs. Mustang Shelby GT500
December 3rd, 2024This race has got a giant and a giant killer. It ain’t difficult to see which one is which. Think you know who is gonna win? Everyone sold David short, too. He was too small. Too young. No experience. No expertise. How did that turn out? David took out his little stone and his faith in a big God. He popped the clutch and took that giant down. Might not happen like that today – but it could.
Here’s the rundown on the equipment:
The rail job is homemade. Power comes from a turbocharged (meth injected) 4-cylinder VW motor. At 985-pounds, the rail job weighs less than a quarter of what the Ford weighs. So, what’s the problem? The rail buggy also has less than half the horsepower and a manual gearbox. Buckle-up beach bunnies!
The 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 comes from the factory with a supercharged 5.2-liter Predator motor that can make 760hp and 625 lb.-ft. of torque. In stock trim this snake can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 11.3-seconds @ 132 mph. In its current state of modification, the car featured in this video is capable of producing 925hp. It has been modified with supercharger/crankshaft pullies and it is tuned to burn E85 race gas. Oh, it also has an automatic transmission.
This is going to be a wild one. Get ahold of something and hang on tight.
