Chevy Camaro SS vs. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio – Roll and Dig
February 11th, 2025Alfa Romeo is not a name one frequently hears thrown around at the dragstrip. Never mind Guilia Quadrifoglio (I don’t even think I said that right). Let’s begin with the hard one. Quadrifoglio is an Italian word used to describe a four-leaf clover. Since 1923, Alfa Romeo has used the name (and a four-leaf clover badge on the side panels) to designate certain high-performance models. These special models are manufactured to exacting specifications with premium lightweight materials. Giulia (or Julia in English) is an Italian female name.
Having that said, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is designed for pure driving pleasure. An all-wheel drive sedan, Giulia is powered by a twin turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The tiny turbo mill can churn out 505hp and 443 lb.-ft. of torque at peak RPM. This speedy Italian can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 11.9-seconds @ 121 mph. Curb weight is 3,862-pounds.
Then there’s the American. The iconic Chevrolet Camaro SS just seems to get better and better. This version features a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine has been gently massaged with a performance tune and some aftermarket exhaust components. In its current state, the Camaro is making 440hp to the rear wheels. The Chevy tips the scale at 3,788-pounds.
This should be a close matchup.
