Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray vs McLaren 600LT 1/4 Mile DRAG RACE

April 18th, 2025

What do we have here? Looks like a supercar slugfest between a hybrid Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and a gas guzzling McLaren 600LT. That’s Long Tail, gearheads. Promoting this U-drag contest is none other than DragTimes own Brooks Weisblat.

While the rear-wheel drive McLaren 600LT tips the scale at 3,300 pounds, the all-wheel drive Corvette E-Ray has a GVW of 4,100 pounds. The weight differential will likely help to offset the extra 93hp delivered by the hybrid Chevy.

The McLaren 600LT utilizes a twin turbocharged 3.8-liter V8 to produce 562hp. GM opted for the combination of a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 gas burner (495hp) in the rear and a 160hp electric motor (up front) to produce 655hp.

Car and Driver Magazine tested the Corvette E-Ray and found that it could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5-seconds. The McLaren tested just a skosh slower with a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.9-seconds. However, the hybrid ‘Vette lagged behind in quarter-mile testing with a 10.6-second elapsed time at 128mph to 10.4-seconds @ 136 mph for the speedy 600LT.

Let’s head down to the Sunshine State and see what happens when the rubber actually hits the road.
