Camaro LT1 with Nitrous vs. Tesla Model X Plaid – Street Hits

November 15th, 2024

Brace yourselves for some south of the border shenanigans in this clip. That’s right, we are going to the land of spicy hot cuisine and wide-open interstates for some roll racing fun.

The competitors include a naturally aspirated Chevrolet Camaro LT1 (nitrous and an E85 tune) and a Tesla Model X (600-pound weight reduction) in Plaid mode. Let’s see how this shakes out.

In the right lane is the Gen 6 Camaro LT1. The LT1 Package is equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. In stock trim, the Camaro LT1 could produce 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. The rear-wheel drive coupe could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 11.4-seconds @ 127 mph. Add a kit of nitrous and some well managed race fuel and yeah, baby! This Camaro is as hot as a $2 pistol.

On the left is the silent assassin. The all-electric Tesla Model X Plaid features a powertrain comprised of a pair of electric motors that combine for a total of 1,130hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque. At full factory weight, the all-wheel drive Model X Plaid can rocket from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5-seconds and crush the standing quarter-mile in 9.75-seconds @ 131 mph. With a full charge and 600-pounds ripped out of the interior, this Tesla is indeed a force of nature.
