Bright Red Beach Cruiser – LT1 Powered 1962 Corvette

January 6th, 2023

Shawn from Autotopia LA delivers again with a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible restomod. Come along as Jason from Timeless Builds tells us about the project.

It’s rolling on an Art Morrison chassis with C6 Corvette front suspension and a Watts 3-link rear.

The LT-1 small block V8 engine is mated to a 6-speed Tremec transmission with a DYAD clutch. In the back is a Ford 9-inch rear end with an Eaton TrueTrac chunk. The combination is good to drop 470hp at the rear wheels.

Speaking of wheels, they are Forgeline in chrome (19×9 front and 19×12 rear). The brakes are Brembo carbon-ceramic disc on all four corners. In keeping with the current restomod trend, the brake system is manual (no power brakes).

Sheetmetal enhancements are scarce. The paint and body work are pristine, and the trademark coves have been removed (along with the trim). It all adds up to one stunning piece of rolling art.

Sure, it looks good but how does it perform? Cruising the boulevard or cutting the canyons, this little red Corvette can do it all.
