Big Turbo Subaru WRX vs. Porsche Turbo S – Street Hits
September 27th, 2024By Chandler Monroe
Get a load of this short clip that documents a race between a modified Subaru and a souped-up Porsche. My first reaction is to give the Porsche the nod, but I’ve seen this Subaru before and it’s plenty fast.
The all-wheel drive Subaru WRX is a sporty sedan that comes from the factory with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder engine that makes nominal power. Featured in this video is a WRX that’s been modified with a professionally built 2.1-liter stroker motor and a Precision 6466 turbocharger. This little bug is making major power, and it has undergone significant weight reduction – as you can see by the carbon fiber front clip.
In the opposite lane is the Porsche 911 Turbo S. With a hefty price tag, this rear-engine, all-wheel drive German rocket is among the most capable sports cars on the market. Its twin turbocharged 3.8-liter flat 6 engine can churn out 643hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque at peak RPM. In stock trim the Turbo S can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.2-seconds and turn the standing quarter-mile in 10.1-seconds @ 137 mph. Top speed is 205 mph (computer controlled). The transmission is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Porsche in the video has been upgraded with various aftermarket bolt-ons and tuned to burn MS109 race fuel.
Happy trails.
