Big Turbo 2JZ Supra vs ESS Supercharged Mustang – 60 to 150 Street Hits
March 10th, 2025Lighting up these streets (of Mexico) tonight, we have an import versus domestic grudge race. Representing the import segment is the favorite of the Toyota loyalists – the MK4 Supra. Carrying the flag for the good ol’ US of A is the iconic muscle car known as the Ford Mustang GT. Here’s a rundown of the chariots.
The Mk4 Toyota Supra is a rear-wheel drive coupe. It came from the factory with an inline 6-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This version of the Supra was a fun little car in stock trim but there was nothing to brag about from an overall performance perspective. This guy yanked the 2JZ and had it professionally built. He added a beefy turbocharger and a nice thick intercooler. Now it makes boo-koo horsepower. This fresh build is out on her maiden voyage. Just trying to get her dialed-in.
Also arrayed in gloss black, the Ford Mustang GT comes with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Not impressed with the stock specs on his pretty pony car, this guy opted for an ESS Tuning Gen 3 blower kit with all the supporting hardware. He’s also running a pulley upgrade. Adding this kit equals massive performance gains.
Shall we join the action, already in progress?
