Arm Drop Dragz on the Airstrip
November 11th, 2024It’s been a minute since we caught up with the SRC (Street Racing Channel) crew. This weekend, brothers Billy (BillyTH3KID) and Tommy (Tommy2Guns) are looking to score some bread – and have some laughs – at the annual Kent Rose Memorial Arm Drop Dragz in Kentucky. The surface is rough, the weather is cool, and the cars are fast. This should be more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
Billy is running his Chevy S-10 pickup with a twin turbocharged LS motor. He will be competing in the Run What Ya Brung Class. Tommy is in his Ford Falcon. He also has a twin turbo LS engine. Both machines are advanced street and strip drag racing builds. The brothers come from a long line of street racers and boot leggers. Both have extensive racing experience on the street and at the track.
Billy draws a modified Mazda RX-7 in the first round. These two teams have a history. Both cars cut a clean light, and Billy takes an early advantage. At the midway point, the Mazda closes the gap and pulls out front by a bumper. Rolling through the trap, Billy hits the scramble button and launches ahead for the win. Great race.
Tommy is on radial tires and he’s up next. Let’s see what the kid brother can do. He’s running in the True Street Class.
Tommy lines up against a Gen 4 Camaro with a ton of attitude. The arm drops and the Camaro can’t find any grip. Tommy takes a massive lead, but the Camaro comes roaring back near the end. SRC FTW.
The Round 1 Small Tire Race looks like something from a Mad Max movie with a pair of cobbled-up Mazdas.
Enjoy the show.
