All Motor Corvette vs. Whipple Camaro SS – Street Hits
December 3rd, 2024Tonight, we are looking at a contest between a naturally aspirated Corvette and a supercharged Camaro. One might assume that the blown car has the advantage here. Normally that would be an accurate assumption. Shall we have a closer look at the machines?
Beginning with the Corvette. Is that a ProCharger snout in the front? It certainly is a snout, but further inspection reveals no supercharger. Only an over the radiator air intake. Still, there’s plenty of space for a ProCharger and an intercooler (later). This C6 has been modified with a GM Performance LS3 crate motor. That’s a 6.2-liter V8 engine with premium internals, a hydraulic roller camshaft and aluminum cylinder heads. This car has also been modified with some degree of weight reduction and a custom rear gear setup. It sounds like honey and runs like a scalded dog.
The Camaro SS is a full weight car that comes with a factory 6.2-liter V8 mill. The owner of this Chevy added a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger and boosted performance over the moon. A methanol injection system helps to keep intake air cool and dense for improved fuel atomization. This blown brute is also tuned to burn E85 fuel.
Both cars have manual transmissions.
Let’s get it on!
