Alex Taylor’s 1955 Chevy Heats Up the Dyno Ahead of Sick Week 2022

February 5th, 2022

This video introduces us to drag racer Alex Taylor and her rank 1955 Chevrolet 210. She has brought her shoebox Chevy to Jessie’s Garage in Bowling Green, Kentucky for a dyno tuning session with Ryan White from Holley EFI. This is all in preparation for Sick Week 2022, a weeklong drag-and-drive competition that takes place in Florida and South Georgia.

Proudly displaying a natural patina, Alex’s Chevy is powered by a 525 cubic-inch Dart motor with an iron block. The bottom end features such high-quality items as a Crower crankshaft, BME pistons and custom fabricated one-piece billet main caps. Forced air induction is handled via a set of Precision Pro Mod 88-millimeter turbos feeding an AFR single-plane intake manifold through a 105-millimeter throttle body. Fuel delivery is accomplished using 24-fuel injectors (3 per cylinder). That’s two (for each cylinder) for the street and one for running methanol at the track. Engine management duties are left to a Holley Dominator ECU and MSD Pro 600 ignition alongside a pair of Holley injector modules.

The transmission is a TH400 (GM) automatic, and the rear end is a custom-tailored Ford 9-inch (3.89:1 gears). No surprise there.

The interior is all business with a digital instrument cluster, racing seats, and plain steel floors.

Enjoy the footage and check out the numbers as this old Chevy heats up the dyno.
