Alaska No Prep Shootout
September 11th, 2024What would one expect to find amid the panoramic backdrops of the great Alaskan wilderness? A No Prep Drag Race, right? That’s precisely what the 1320 Video crew stumbled upon as they frolicked among the giant Kodiak bear, plentiful moose and beautiful caribou. Here’s the rundown:
There are two classes competing today. The All-Wheel Drive Class has fourteen entries, and the Rear-Wheel Drive/Front-Wheel Drive Class has seventeen competitors. The entry fee is $100 and typical No Prep rules apply.
The first encounter is an all-wheel drive 1989 Honda CRX with a turbocharged 2.4-liter motor. With the ability to produce 700hp on 30 psi of boost, this thing should be relatively quick but it’s a brand-new build. You know how that goes.
The CRX draws a Chevrolet SUV in the All-Wheel Drive Class. Both vehicles cut a clean light and – after a brief hiccup – the Honda manages to get down the track in one piece. CRX for the win.
In the stick shift segment, we have a recently completed Mustang with a Modular Head Shop 4.6-liter Coyote motor (ported Cobra cylinder heads) and a 3.0-liter Whipple blower bolted to the top. The transmission is a face plated Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual.
After an impressive burnout, the Mustang gets down the track in stunning fashion and takes a first-round win.
Tons more No Prep action in this clip.
