In this epic battle that is nearly as old as high-performance cars themselves, a Chevrolet and a Ford line up and go head-to-head. This modern day affair features a high-flying Chevrolet C6 Corvette Z06 and a top-of-the-line 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The scene is set on a closed airstrip at the New Coalinga Municipal Airport in Coalinga, California during the ShiftS3ctor Airstrip Attack 8 event. It’s half-mile dig racing at its best between two prime time nearly stock hot rods.

The Mustang is bone stock but the Shelby GT500 package, with a 662hp 5.8-liter supercharged DOHC V8 and manual gearbox, hardly needs any modifications. The Corvette on the other hand has been upgraded with new cylinder heads, a higher lift, longer duration camshaft, and an Akrapovic high-performance exhaust system. His bad bowtie will make Chevy fans happy all the way to the finish line.
