900HP BMW Terrorizes SCT Charlotte

July 13th, 2021

Greetings drag racing fans! Please allow me to introduce all of you to Jimmy Bacogeorge and his outstanding 1998 BMW M3 build. Jimmy has owned this Beamer since he was 18-years old. Now 42, he swears that this version of the Bavarian sports coupe is better than ever. We don’t disagree.

At the heart of this ravenous beast is a fully built and turbocharged 3.0-liter engine with an S50 crankshaft and a ported cylinder head. The turbocharger is a Precision 7275, and the car has a 4-inch exhaust from front to rear. The transmission is a DCT unit from a 2017 BMW M4. The combination is good for over 900hp to the rear wheels.

For the first (test) pass of the video, we have a roll between Jimmy’s M3, a Dodge Viper, a Corvette and a Camaro. That’s right – it’s a 4-WIDE TRACK HIT! As the cars come across the starting line, it ain’t looing good for Jimmy. The Viper and Camaro seem to be walking away from the BMW. As the turbo spools up to maximum capacity, Jimmy lunges ahead to take the victory with no time to spare. Wow, that was a close one.

Daylight turns to darkness and test passes yield to conventional head-to-head racing. The BMW is paired with a huge-winged Challenger HEMI for the first pass. Can the team get the turbo lag issue solved and slip through the first round? Time will tell.
