3000HP Muscle Car Barn Find

April 7th, 2017

So, anyone who has seen the movie “Gone in Sixty-Seconds” with Nick Cage knows about Eleanor. She was a mystical 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Fastback. Every time Cage got an opportunity to get behind the wheel of Eleanor, bad things happened for him but it always led to some action-packed cinema.

Well, I don’t think that Eleanor had anything on this beast that the owner affectionately calls “Helleanor”.

Helleanor is an all steel chassis; rolling out with a 402-cubic inch small block that is force fed by a pair of Precision 8685 turbochargers. She is capable of producing 3,000hp but is only tuned for 1,500hp in this video. Nevertheless, she churns out some low 4-second ETs (1/8-mile) and she looks fantastic doing it.

Maybe the most awesome thing about the backstory behind this ride is that the owner found Helleanor in a barn, way back in 1994. The previous owner had planned to restore her but was smitten with the dreaded divorce decree. He had to sell her off or face losing her outright, so he sold her to this guy. She’s not exactly a restoration but what is called a resto-mod. I think that she has been enhanced but there are some car-lovers out there who would not agree. Just goes to show that you just can’t please all the people, all the time. Helleanor is a real beauty, either way.
