2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 Dyno Results

October 1st, 2008

The first batch of brand new Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1’s are starting to be delivered to their lucky owners across the US. With Chevy quoting a stout 638HP from it’s 6.2 Liter LS9 supercharged aluminum-block V8 engine, the new owners were quick to make sure the power they paid for is there. We’ve had two Corvette ZR1 Dyno submissions so far, one put down 549.9 horsepower and 500.01 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels and the other did 529.55 HP and 507.69 TQ.

Taking the higher numbers and accounting for a 15% driveline loss, that puts the new ZR-1 at around 646 HP and 588 ft-lb of torque, right in line with Chevrolet’s published numbers. While the numbers are good, we think many Chevy enthusiasts were expecting the car to be underrated from the factory and put down more power than quoted from Chevrolet.

For comparison purposes, the new 2008 Dodge Viper rated at 600HP by Dodge, puts down just as much power as the new ZR-1 with it’s naturally aspirated V10, 546 HP and 516 ft-lb of torque.

We’re looking for the first set of drag racing timeslips for the new ZR-1 to come in, so check back soon. Click on the graphs below to check out the ZR-1 Dyno Results.
