2008 BMW M3 E92 on the Dyno

April 27th, 2008

A VRP Tuning customer brought in their 2008 BMW M3 for some upgrades and obtained some baseline dyno numbers before the work began. The new M3 put down 362.5 HP and 261.25 pounds of torque to the rear wheels. These are fairly stout numbers for the new M3 which is rated at 414HP and 295 pounds of torque at the crank. Also shown on the graph are CLK63 and modified E63 numbers. As usual with the latest batch of high revving M cars, the torque is on the weak side, but power is strong as the RPMs climb.

It should be interesting to see how well a chipped 135i/335i does against the new M3 in a straight-line, since with a simple chip upgrade they are putting down similar power and much more torque, here is one putting down 353 rwhp and 374 rwtq. We would much rather see BMW’s new twin-turbo V8 debut the new M3 instead of the X6!
