1000WHP Fathouse Mustang GT500KR – Dyno and Street Pulls

April 9th, 2025

The Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is a rare breed. In 2020, only 180 GT500s were badged with the KR logo. The KR version (short for King of the Road) has been around since 1968. This 2020 iteration has been abducted by Fathouse Performance. Fathouse will add a few tweaks and bump the performance up a skosh.

Here’s the rundown:

Of course, every dyno test should begin with a baseline. In stock trim, the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR posted some pretty impressive dyno totals. The GT500KR, already enhanced by Shelby American, comes with exclusive KR badging, a carbon-fiber hood, specialized wheels, custom interior and a 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger. The baseline for the Shelby enhanced GT500KR was 842whp and 603 lb.-ft. of torque – and that’s on 93-octane pump gas. Not too bad for a production model.

Fathouse jumps into the mix and contributes a supercharger pulley upgrade, a fuel system upgrade, a set of stainless-steel exhaust headers and a MoTec 150 controller (tuned by Johnson Tuning). Other modifications include a Fathouse proprietary transmission upgrade and a rear suspension anti-hop kit. All these features are included in the KR1000 kit from Fathouse Performance.

Running E85 fuel, the new KR1000 upgrades yielded 1,009whp and 704 lb.-ft. of torque. It can make 900whp on premium pump gas. That’s a whole lot of Pony car on the pavement.
