2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which
German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe
is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very
limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under
its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507
more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the
Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features
a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507
Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch
transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear
differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which
one is best? Watch and find out!

PREVIEW New 2015 Audi RS3 @ A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept 2.5 Turbo 525 hp 193 mph 0-62 mph 3,6 s
http://Carwp.blogspot.com.br (from Audi Press Release) Audi will be
presenting the A3 clubsport quattro concept at the 2014 Wörthersee Meeting
in Reifnitz (Kärnten). The concept study is based on the S3 Sedan and has
a five-cylinder TFSI engine under the hood producing 386 kW (525 hp).
"The Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept shows our car and tuning fans at the
Wörthersee just how much sporty potential there is in the A3 family and in
our top-of-the-line engines such as the 2.5 TFSI. We have pushed the limits
in every respect with this show car: power, dynamics, sound, design," says
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for
Based on the S3 Sedan, the show car is equipped with a powerful
five-cylinder TFSI engine. The turbocharged engine with direct injection in the
show car boasts an impressive success story. Since 2010, an expert jury has
already voted it "International Engine of the Year" in its category four
times in succession. The 2.5 TFSI powers the production Audi RS Q3. In the
show car, the 2,480 cc five-cylinder produces 386 kW (525 hp) for a
specific output of 155.6 kW (211.7 hp) per liter. With a total weight of
1,527 kilograms (3,366.5 lb), this corresponds to a power-to-weight ratio
of 2.9 kilograms (6.4 lb)/hp. Maximum torque of 600 Nm (442.5 lb-ft) is
available between 2,300 and 6,000 rpm. The Audi A3 clubsport quattro
concept accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.6 seconds and
reaches a top speed of 310 km/h (192.6 mph).
Extensive modifications make this extreme performance possible. These
include a large turbocharger with up to
1.5 bar of relative Boost pressure
and a modified Intercooler.
The basic concept behind the five-cylinder already makes it a special
engine. The 1-2-4-5-3 ignition sequence gives it its own unique rhythm,
which in the A3 clubsport quattro concept is reinforced by an intake and Exhaust system designed for maximum
throughput. The characteristic sound of this TFSI engine is a throaty
snarl. In addition to earning top marks for sound and technology, the 2.5
TFSI is also visually stunning. The engine in the show car is only covered
by a hood made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP).
The Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept features a seven-speed S tronic with
a compact three-shaft layout. Its tall seventh gear reduces fuel
consumption, and the final gear ratio has been modified accordingly. The
driver can allow the dual-clutch transmission to work fully automatically
in modes D and S or choose to change gears manually using the paddles on
the steering wheel or the shift lever. A launch control function manages
starts with maximum power and controlled wheel slip.
The heart of the quattro all-wheel drive system is a hydraulically
activated, multi-plate clutch on the rear axle that has been specially
designed for the high torque of the powerful five-cylinder. Like the engine
management system, its electronic controller is integrated into the Audi
drive select driving dynamics system and takes the combination of "fun to
drive" and safety to a whole new level.
The clutch can direct a portion of the torque from the front to the rear
axle if the driver turns sportily into a corner.
Its advanced chassis enables the Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept to
deliver its tremendous power to the asphalt dynamically and safely.
Aluminum components in the front McPherson suspension reduce the weight of
the unsprung masses. The four-link rear suspension can process the
longitudinal and transverse forces separately. The steering rack of the
progressive steering system is designed so that the steering ratio becomes
more direct with increasing steering input. In addition, steering Boost decreases as speed increases.
Compared to the production Audi S3 Sedan, the body has been lowered 10
millimeters (0.4 in) and both the springs and dampers are very taut. All
three parameters can be adjusted via the struts of the coilover suspension
so that the show car can be perfectly adapted to the task at hand, be it on
the road or the race track.
The Audi A3 clubsport quattro concept rolls on 9.5 J x 21 wheels shod with
size 275/25 R21 tires. The internally vented front brake discs measure 370
millimeters (14.6 in) in diameter. All four discs are made of carbon
fiber-ceramic, making them extremely lightweight and abrasion-resistant.

2014 Audi A4 Review and Test Drive

The 2014 Audi A4 is a symbol of accomplishment: either you've just
graduated college and you're ready to say hello to the world, or you've
just finished putting the kids through college and you're ready to
celebrate by retiring your dinosaur SUV - the Audi A4 is a trophy worth
The 2014 is chock-full of refinements and feels completely premium in every
aspect. The feeling and aroma of the materials used, the way the quattro
all-wheel drive system sticks the A4 to the ground, the solid thunk of the
doors - it all fuses together to be a super composed and high quality
With one of the most intuitive navigation/technology interface systems in
cars today and internet (and Wi-Fi hotspot) connectivity, the A4 is super
savvy. The smartest part of the technology, if you ask me, is the voice
command - it's very natural and easy to use without having to take your
eyes off the road.
Design-wise the A4 is sleek and athletic without any sharp angles. The A4
is surprisingly long, which contributes to spacious interiors (especially
for tall occupants) and an ample trunk. And of course, the A4 has been
designed to be tremendously safe.
We hope you have a chance to get behind the wheel of an A4 with one of our
Brand Specialists, but if not feel free to ask any question you may have!
Audi S3 Saloon review
Read our written review of the Audi S3 Saloon here:
We've tested the Audi S3 Saloon, the sibling car to the German brand's S3
hatch and sportback.
Using the same 2.0-litre turbocharged
four-cylinder petrol engine prpoducing 296bhp as its counterparts, the
model comes with four-wheel-drive as standard.
Rivalling big guns such as the BMW 235i and the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG, the S3
Saloon, we gauge whether this is a credible competitor -- it's cheaper but
is it good?

The arrival of a new BMW M car is always big news for performance car fans,
and the new M4 is no exception.
Costing almost £60,000, the replacement for the legendary old BMW M3, the
M4 has moved away from the V8 power plant in the old car, and is now
powered by a 425bhp twin-turbocharged
Meanwhile, the similarly prices Audi RS5 is propelled by a 4.0-litre V8,
which produces 430bhp. It's also mated to the Audi quattro four-wheel drive
system. Like the BMW, it also features a dual-clutch gearbox, the Audi S
There's no denying the Audi lacks the fun factor of the BMW - the quattro
four-wheel-drive system prevents the lurid powerslides than you can really
go for in the M4. You can also feel the weight of the engine over the front
axle in the RS5, but it certainly doesn't feel slow at all.
Overall then, the RS5 feels very punchy, and the gearshift is also really
nice - the same can be said for its V8 soundtrack. It's not a track machine
though, and the car from Neckarsulm is more of a very stable and very rapid
Meanwhile, the BMW M4 feels very raw and very serious, especially when all
the settings are put at their sportiest via the M1 switch on the steering
wheel. These also turn the traction control and stability control off.
With no electronic aids, the M4 is always trying to get its tail out.
However, the body control is amazing, but there is a feeling that it's all
a bit artificial. The same can be said for the engine note, which has been
The M4 is a proper M car though, and something BMW can be truly proud of.
It set a lap time of 1m09.9s, compared to the 1m12.2s set by the Audi -
that's 2.3s quicker.
