2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Review : MPGomatic

MPGomatic.com puts a six-speed manual 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo to a grueling 500+ mile test drive. We switched things up a bit with this review, and have included a demo of the Blue Max and Eco-Coach features along with our usual 0-60 MPH and fuel economy testing. It's in HD, as well. :) Big screen and Big MPGs, woo hoo! The Hyundai Veloster turbo is equipped with a turbocharged 16-valve Dual-CVVT 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine producing 201 horsepower and 195 pound feet of torque. The intercooled and gasoline direct-injected (GDI) four banger cranks out more than sixty HP and seventy pound feet of torque over the naturally-aspirated 2012 Veloster we tested earlier this year. A six-speed manual transmission is standard in the Veloster turbo, while a six-speed automatic is optional. 2013 Veloster turbo M/T MSRP: $23,950 Options: Ultimtate Package - $2,500 Carpeted Floor Mats - $95 Michelin Pilot Super Sport 215/40ZR18 Summer Tires - $1,200 Inland Freight and Handling - $775 MSRP including options: $26,520 More MPGomatic ... Jeep TJ Synthetic Oil Change - Ain't Fuelin!
There are lots of choices to make when change the oil in your vehicle ... whether you do it yourself or have someone do it for you. Synthetic oils offer better protection, longer life, and incrementally higher fuel economy. The trick is to pick the right oil and oil filter. Don't make the mistake of pairing an expensive long-life oil with an inexpensive filter that's not made to go the distance. With more than a buck and a half on the original straight six, a synthetic high mileage blend is an appropriate oil for this 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ. A slippery full synthetic would find its way out of the engine at a higher rate.

2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution EVO MR Review - MPGomatic
MPGomatic.com puts a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR to a grueling 300+ mile test drive. [ Full Review: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2012/10/26/2013-mitsubishi-lancer-evolution-mr-rev iew/ ] The EVO MR is equipped with a turbocharged Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 291 horsepower and 300 foot pounds of torque. The EVO MR is exclusively fitted with a six-speed TC-SST dual-clutch automatic. This review, like most of our reviews, includes our trademark MPGomatic 0-60 MPH acceleration test.

2013 Mitsubishi EVO MR 0-60 MPH
MPGomatic.com takes another stab at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR. We launch a 2013 Lancer EVO MR with the TC-SST twin-clutch automatic transmission. Lets call these runs somewhere in the 4.6-4.7 range. Could it have been faster? Surely. This was my first two, and *only* two attempts at launching this car. I can't afford to break anything, y'know? :) The 2013 Lancer Evolution MR is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter MIVEC inline four-cylinder engine that produces 291 horsepower engine. I love shifting gears the old fashioned way, but the Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST) shifts faster than any manual trans on the planet. Mitsubishi's "Super All-Wheel Control" gets the power to the ground. Launch control to Major Tom. Sub five seconds? No problem. (this time) Test performed with traction control off, in S-Sport mode. Why did the revs hang after the first run? S-Sport mode is designed for the track. I should have upshifted earlier, but was momentarily distracted by some roadside wild life. Better safe then dead.

2013 Scion FR-S Review - MPG Test Drive
MPGomatic.com puts a 2013 Scion FR-S to a grueling 300+ mile test drive. [ Full Review: http://www.mpgomatic.com/2012/07/28/2013-scion-fr-s-mpg-review/ ] The 2013 Scion FR-S is powered by a direct and sequential multi-port fuel injected DOHC 2.0-liter Boxer (horizontally opposed) four-cylinder engine - codeveloped by Toyota and Subaru - that produces 200 horsepower (HP) and 151 foot pounds of torque. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) FR-S is available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. We tested the six-speed automatic version. Of course, we'd prefer to drive the six-speed manual, but you gotta take what you can get, when you can get it. This review video features an alternate 0-60 MPH run that drops the time into the mid-sevens. MSRP: $25,300. Options: Rear Bumper Applique $69. Wheel Locks $67. More MPGomatic ... Test text for search. The Veloster turbo is a powerful reinvention of the Veloster. Along with the bold 3-door design, LED headlight accents and raking contour lines that make both Velosters instantly recognizable, the turbo includes standard 18-inch alloy wheels, round chrome-tipped dual Exhaust, and front fog lights and fascia that frame the special wide-mouthed grille. Calling it a unique combination of power and design is an understatement. What's better than a Veloster turbo? A Veloster turbo in matte gray paint. Get the limited-edition finish for that aftermarket look and cover your Veloster in a shade of paint that's as rare as its unique style. Veloster turbo comes with 18-inch alloy wheels with special chrome inserts. The larger wheels fill out the wheel well and combine with the bodykit to give this car a strong sporty stance. The Veloster turbo further sets itself apart with its wide-mouthed grille and bodykit for a low, aggressive stance. It also features fascia-encased front fog lights and uniquely lit projector-type headlights with LED accents. When it comes to the Exhaust, performance and style work hand-in-hand to provide a distinctive, signature look. The Veloster turbo distinguishes itself with centered round chrome-tipped Exhaust ports. Whenever you head off on another adventure, you'll find yourself leaving the crowd, and an impression, behind. As unique on the inside as it is on the outside. We started with the sport-bike-inspired dash and modern conveniences that make Veloster a standout and we threw in leather seating surfaces with turbo stitching, heated front seats and alloy pedals. 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/hyundai/veloster/2013/?id=32972 When the Hyundai Veloster was released in 2011 many enthusiasts were excited to see a fantastic looking and affordable sport compact car that would give the other hot hatchbacks in the segment a run for their money. The let down came when the hood was opened to reveal a 138 horsepower 1.6 liter naturally aspirated engine that was more suited for fuel efficiency rather that for performance. Well now you can have your cake with the release of the 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo! The base price on the turbo model is $21,950. The 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo is powered by a twin-scroll turbocharged 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine based on the standard Veloster Gamma GDi engine. The turbo motor has a lower compression ratio at 9.5:1 to handle the added Boost pressure. The gasoline direct injection (GDi) motor also sports Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT). Power output for the turbo engine is 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. of torque which puts the Veloster turbo right in the middle of the sport compact car pack. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual but there is also is 6-speed automatic version with paddle shifters. The manual is the more fuel efficient transmission at 26 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on the highway. On the outside the Hyundai Veloster turbo model is distinguishes itself from the regular model in a few ways. For started, the Veloster turbo has a huge wide-mouth front grille opening to let in vast amounts of cool air. There is also a lower lip spoiler on the turbo model. Another cool feature found on the turbo-only model are the LED lights front and back. The front projector headlights sport LED daytime running light accents which are normally reserved for high end luxury vehicles. The wheels on the Hyundai Veloster turbo are 18-inch alloy units that combine both a matte and chrome finish. The limited edition matte gray pain job will set you back an additional $800, but the finished result is well worth it. The standard non-turbo Veloster features squared Exhaust tips while the turbo model has rounded ones. The 2013 Hyundai Veloster turbo can be considered one of the hottest new hatchbacks on the market. Not only does the Veloster turbo have over 200 horsepower, but this car can get up to 38 MPG on the highway. The 2013 Veloster turbo looks great and comes packed with tons of standard features.
