Junkyard Turbo Swap! Chevy-Powered 1971 Datsun 240Z Autocross Thrash - Roadkill Ep. 26
What do you get when you cross a rusted 1971 Datsun 240Z with a Chevy 4.3L V6 and a turbo from a Ford Power Stroke Diesel? The Rotsun! During Roadkill Episode 25, Freiburger and Finnegan revived the Rotsun expecting it to dominate in the 9-car autocross showdown of previous Roadkill project cars. It also needed to beat a 2014 Kia Rio 5, but failed to do so with the Rotsun shamefully breaking down before completing a decent lap. So in this episode: revenge. After swapping in the mismatched turbo and making nearly 400 rear-wheel horsepower, the guys head to the autocross at the Goodguys 5th Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona and mingle with fans on their way to a rematch with that dastardly Kia. Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=motortrend Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RoadkillShow, http://facebook.com/motortrendmag & http://facebook.com/hotrodmag Twitter - http://twitter.com/motortrend & https://twitter.com/hotrodmagazine Google+ - https://plus.google.com/1018679678590... 450hp LS1 1978 Datsun 280Z
One of the coolest imports I've had the opportunity to see in action, this extremely streetable 1978 Datsun 280z takes it's first trip to the drag strip to do some testing. The car has an LS1 with heads, cam, and FAST intake manifold putting down around 450 wheel horsepower! Best 1/8 mile time was 7.11 for the night.

Nissan Project 370Z vs 1970 Datsun 240Z with RB26 Track Battle! - The Downshift Episode 54
Many months ago, Nissan asked their fans to help them create the ultimate 370Z track car. They called it Project 370Z. To put it to the test, Nissan fans were asked to vote for a challenger to compete against it. They chose a 1970 Datsun 240Z with an RB26 engine transplant built by Gordon MacSwain. On this episode of The Downshift, we head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for an epic David vs Goliath battle between these two amazing machines. The Downshift appears every other Tuesday on the Motor Trend channel. http://www.youtube.com/motortrend Subscribe now to make sure you're in on all the action! http://www.youtube.com/subscription_c... Big Block Chevy Vega Wagon Wheelie
A little too much launch RPM resulted in the car hitting the wheelie bars and staying there. I lifted to get the front end back down. I then got right back on it and it jacked the front end right back up. I lifted again and aborted the run. 4,000rpm launch which is still a full 1,000rpm BELOW the engines peak torque! Crushed 4 primary header tubes on this pass.

Definitive Z: The Limit and Legacy of the Datsun 240Z
John Williams is as hardcore a Datsun as a they come. A relative late-comer, he embraced the Z culture in the early 1980s. Since then he's used his skills as a machinist, and passion as an enthusiast, to produce his own parts for award-winning classics. Among the finest is his silver 240Z, a labor of love for a sports car that changed the West's perception of what the Japanese could do. Three generations later, the Nissan Z continues to define the Japan's sports car culture. Find out why. Big Block Chevy Vega Wagon 8.86 at 153mph
This is the run I made right after the big wheelie pass (see my other vids to see that run). This pass was made with 4 primary header tubes collapsed to about half their original size as a result of coming down from the wheelstand the run before. I still haven't raised the shift point yet. Still short shifting at 7,000rpm.

Dare to Be Different in a Datsun 240Z
Owner Dave Scholz, shares his connection with a Japanese cult classic that could easily be regarded as the 911 of Japan. Its iconic beauty, modular mechanics, and desirability inspired Dave to heed to Datsun's famous racing campaign of the '70s, "Dare to be different." American heads spun when the 1970s ultimately snuffed out their beloved horsepower-drunk muscle cars. As the world watched them squirm for performance, Japan was busy developing the 240Z to bring a new thrill to American roads using balance, harmony, and technology. "Datsun didn't invent the overhead cam engine, or disc brakes, or independent suspension but it has a habit of incorporating these sophisticated systems into brilliantly conceived and easily affordable cars."
