For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/86cfjw2 This Mandarin Orange ultra-custom '55 Crown Victoria has won trophies at the Grand National Roadster Show, the Blackie Gejeian Fresno Autorama, Carlisle All-Ford Nationals and impressed the likes Boyd Coddington, George Barris and John Force among others. It's one of the best customs on the planet and it carries the show history to prove it. Body modifications were handled by Bernt Karlsson, owner of Customs by Bernt, who should be familiar to you as Boyd Coddington's painter on the show American Hotrod. Karlsson began making customizations to the body by adding a grille and front bumper from a '59 Thunderbird, pushbutton door openers from a '41 Lincoln and taillights from a '55 Mercury. Once all of that work was finished, round two consisted of front lights from a '55 Mercury station wagon, rear fender skirts from a '57 Mercury station wagon and Cadillac wheel covers which provide a nice subtle stock-yet-custom touch. After the shell was finished, Nosse Brothers took over for the reassembly and customization of the small details. They installed a full set of custom fitted Solex tinted glass, painstakingly built up the Art Morrison chassis before marrying it to the body and handled all finishing aspects of the car from headliner to fuel lines. 1967 Thunderbird landau seats are done in the same soft, aromatic two tan leather as the rest of the cockpit and look great next to Nosse Brothers custom door panels. VDO classic series instruments are set in a customized '56 Ford dash and the Ididit steering column features a billet Budnik steering wheel which complements Nosse Brothers billet pedals. This custom interior veritably screams class, refinement and comfort and makes for an exceptionally well tied together car. Art Morrison built the custom 3" by 4" boxed frame and tubular A arm front suspension which houses Aldan Eagle coil overs at all four corners, a Morrison spindle set, Wilwood 11" disc brakes and a Flaming River rack. Out back, a Morrison four link set hangs a Hooper's Ford 9" with 3.50 gears, Moser 36 spline axles and another pair of Wilwood 11" rear disc brakes. Stainless fasteners are everywhere, braided hoses carry all fluids and the top loader 4-speed and a Cannon Engineering driveshaft is as detailed as the rest of the car. The floors are as perfect as the topside, making a perfect backdrop to the custom 2.5" ceramic coated Exhaust. This is one show car that's as drivable as it is perfect! The big daddy 560 horsepower Ford Racing 460 cubic inch V8 looks right at home in the smoothed engine compartment. D-460 aluminum SCJ heads top the motor, getting their fill from a Blue Thunder dual quad manifold and a pair of Holley 600s. Doug's Headers and a Modine radiator round out the package and complement Bernt's smoothed firewall. Built over a four year period at a cost of more than $250,000, this car is the fulfillment of a childhood dream. When you've got the right people and the right plan trophies just about get mailed to your door. It was Boyd Coddington's personal pick at his eponymous cruise, best of show at John Force's holiday cruise, finished second at the GNRS in mild custom, took the Outstanding Elegance award in Fresno, best custom at Carlisle and Meguiars sponsored the car in 2005. Of course, that list neglects smaller shows that it's gone to, but suffice to say it never lost. Bob McClurg himself wrote the car up in a six page spread in Super Rod. If you're a Ford fan, a custom fan or a 50s fan this car just has to make you smile. From top to bottom, the body of this car is as straight as when it rolled out of Fords San Jose California factory. Dressed in its original Ford code KE Buckskin Brown and Snowshoe White, the cars paint is restored to better than factory condition and features an excellent shine with no major flaws or damage. All of the chrome and trim has been restored to like new condition to further enhance the feeling of luxury. The front and rear curved bumpers feature a liquid shine and include factory front and rear bumper guards. The concave grille aligns perfectly with the stainless trim on the edge of the hood and displays the cars 2004 AACA Senior Award plaque. New marker lights combine with the Crown Victoria exclusive browed headlights to preview the stacked light designs of the 1960s. The now famous 'Fairlane strip' flows from the top of the front fenders down the side of the car and hits the tail lights mid fender. Tinted glass that is in excellent shape all around is accented by the Crown Victoria exclusive chrome 'basket handle' roof piece and stainless window trim. A correct "Power Pack" equipped 272 Y-block V8 sits below a 4 barrel carburetor and a factory correct air cleaner housing that is complete with a service instructions decal. A correct intake manifold sandwiched between Ford V8 decaled correct valve covers is painted orange to match the block. Mounted on top of that intake is a correct gloss black coil that runs power to a correct points distributor. To the right of the motor, Ford's first year factory option air conditioning system is painted gloss black and stamped with correct decals. In front of the engine a gloss black generator and pulley mounted 3 blade cooling fan sit right behind a correct gloss black radiator. On the left side of the motor, neatly ran stainless fuel lines complement a silver brake reservoir and silver factory optioned power steering reservoir. The car even features a correct "See Clear" windshield washer fluid bag and a final approval Ford inspection stamp. Under the car, the floors are solid with no signs of rust and the frame is straight without any indication of damage with all the parts being functional and well-maintained. The satin black frame is bolted to a body color floorpan with Stainless fasteners and features an A-arm factory suspension up front complete with coil springs and drum brakes. Behind the orange oil pan sits the hydraulic Ford -O-Matic 3-speed transmission that sends power to a fresh satin black driveshaft and axle. The Exhaust system features a set of aggressive glasspack-style mufflers and stainless turn downs at the rear of the car for a gnarly burble. Keeping the car to the pavement is a set of wide whitewall G78-15 Coker Classic radials on the original color-matched Fairlane 15 inch steel wheels with gorgeous full wheel covers that feature highly detailed ford logos on a red inlay. Inside this classy and comfortable interior, the two tone seats have been excellently restored and likely look and feel better than the day they came from the factory. A new headliner is tight across the roof and features the bottom side of the Crown Victoria 'basket handle'. In front of you, a perfectly restored dash houses a final production year 120mph swept speedometer above fuel and temperature gauges, warning lights and a gear selector window. In the center of the dash you'll find a clock, controls for Fords new for 1955 Ford Matic Aire System air conditioning and a unique AM radio. Great looking door panels flow back from the dash and house chrome handles for the door and window. The steering wheel, complete with chrome horn ring, is absolutely gorgeous and would give way to Fords first dished wheel for the sake of safety in 1956. New carpet flows throughout the interior to tie everything together and complete the look. This is an exceptionally clean '55 Fairlane that has been restored to a high level of detail and carefully maintained. Call now
