TRUTH IN 24 II - Every Second Counts
The Le Mans 24 Hours are a legend. They are mentioned in the same breath as
the Rallye Monte Carlo, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500.
Since 1923, hundreds of thousands of motorsport enthusiasts have been
flocking to La Sarthe year by year to experience the one-day race. To watch
the protagonists in their sports cars battle for each place and each meter
of tarmac with bated breath. The drivers cover 4,800 kilometers in 24 hours
- almost as many as the Formula One racers in a whole year. Every Le Mans
winner has gone down in history. The three Audi drivers Andr‚Äö
Lotterer, BenoŒt Tr‚luyer and Marcel F„ssler did so in a
special way with the triumph they achieved in 2011. The film TRUTH IN 24 II
documents the tenth and arguably most emotional triumph of the brand with
the four rings at this sports car classic. After two Audi R18 TDI cars have
retired following spectacular accidents, the remaining Audi fights a
dramatic battle for overall victory with the three Peugeot 908 cars ? which
the Audi trio ultimately decides in its favor with a narrow margin of 13
seconds. The film captures the entire drama of the fourth-narrowest running
of the Le Mans 24 Hours ? with intimate insights into the team of Audi
Sport and breath-taking pictures.

Porsche 917 at LeMans
The Porsche 917 is a racecar that gave Porsche its first overall wins at
the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 and 1971. Powered by the Type 912 flat-12
engine of 4.5, 4.9, or 5 litres, the 917/30 variant was capable of a 0-62
mph (100 km/h) time of 2.3 seconds, 0--124 mph (200 km/h) in 5.3 seconds,
and a top speed of over 240 mph (390 km/h).
There are at least nine variants of the 917. The original version had a
medium-long tail with flippers, but had considerable handling problems at
high speed because of poor bodywork aerodynamics. The Weyer-Gulf team then
experimented with a shorter tail, and solved the aerodynamic and handling
problems at testing sessions at the Österreichring, at the expense of some
top speed. Porsche adopted these changes into the 917K, which dominated in
the 1970 and 1971 World Sportscar Championships. In 1971, a variant of the
917K appeared with an altered tail and shark fins, which together reduced
drag and maintained down force. These versions produced around 620 bhp.
There were also streamlined versions for Le Mans (1970 917L and 1971 917LH)
that were 20 mph faster in a
straight line. In 1971 Jo Siffert raced an open-top 917PA Spyder (normally
aspirated) in the 1971 CanAm series.
There is also the "Pink Pig" aerodynamic research version (917/20), and the
turbocharged 917/10 and 917/30 CanAm
Spyders. Porsche 917s also raced in the European Interseries in various
configurations. In the 1973 Can-Am series, the turbocharged version Porsche 917/30 developed
1,100 bhp (820 kW).
The 917 is one of the most iconic sports racing cars of all time, largely
for its high speeds and high power outputs, and was made into a movie star
by Steve McQueen in his 1971 film Le Mans.

A Le Mans' Hero: Porsche 917 - PURE RACECAR SOUNDS
When you think about racecars and Le Mans, you probably think about this:
the Porsche 917. You used to see this monster in videogames but in my video
you can finally see how it looks like in real world!
I'm proud to host on my channel this proper Le Mans hero, a Porsche 917/k
to be precise. The history of this incredible machine is way too long to be
reported here so I'll link its Wikipedia page:
I'll then stick to what it's like to see such a monster in real world; it's
just amazing: the car is lower than anything else, the sound it produces is
nearly disturbing due to its loudness! I cannot imagine what was like to
race at Le Mans or at the Nurburgring in one of these...

2.7 Carrera RS is from the State of Art collection. These models are
considered by many to be the greatest classic 911s of all-time. RS stands
for Rennsport in German, meaning race sport in English. You can hear the
start up sound and some "backfiring" sound.
