2013 Scion FR-S Long Beach Grand Prix Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Car @ Chicago Auto Show

http://www.autobytel.com/scion/fr-s/2013/ At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Scion unveiled the new line of FR-S race cars for the upcoming Long Beach Grand Prix Toyota Pro/Celebrity Event. Scion is very excited to have the new FR-S be the official Toyota Pro/Celebrity car. This will mark the first time in over 20 years that a RWD car has been chosen. It was a natural choice to move from the Scion tC to the FR-S which was designed to be an affordable sports car from the beginning. Craig Taguchi gives Autobytel a closer look at what goes into making a car race ready. Starting with a stock 2013 Scion FR-S, a handful of modifications have been performed; mostly in the name of safety. There are a few TRD parts thrown into the mix for added excitement. But for the most part, the car remains relatively stock. Staring up front, the headlights and fog lights have been removed and replaced with delete (fake) units. These cars will be racing and should there be any incidents on the track, a bunch of plastic and glass shards will not be left on the track. The rims are TRD 18-inch cast aluminum units with a matte black finish that compliments the red paint scheme on the car. You will also notice the longer safety stud holding the wheel to the hub. The wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires that provide more grip for the race track. Out back there are a few more TRD accessories. The genuine TRD spoiler will be available at your local dealership soon. The TRD dual Exhaust system features contoured tips that blend in with the bumper. On the inside, the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Scion FR-S Race Car has a window net to keep the drive safe from road debris. The 5-point harness seat belts add another layer of safety while also keeping the driver planted when pulling lateral G's. There is a battery kill switch and full fire safety suppression system. Rounding out the interior safety modifications is the full roll cage. 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTEC Diesel Test Drive & Luxury Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/mercedes-benz/e-class/2013/ The amount of diesel powered luxury cars on the road are few. BMW has the 3-Series Diesel and Audi has the A3 TDI but these are both a smaller class of car. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTEC is really one of the only choices when it comes to a large luxury diesel car. The E-Class comes in a couple of different body styles like the: Sedan, Coupe, Cabriolet, and a Wagon. There are also numerous engine options encompassing everything from a smaller displacement V-6 all the way up to a large displacement high performance V-8 with a Hybrid and Diesel option thrown into the mix as well. The price range on the 2013 Merceedes-Benz E-Class also runs the gamut but the BlueTEC is only $1200 more than the base V-6 model at $52,200 making it a great buy. Diesel engines and the Mercedes brand have a long history together. In fact it's not uncommon to see decades old diesel powered cars built by Mercedes still driving around. Now-a-days diesel is back in a big way and brands like Audi and Volkswagen are pushing those engines on a bunch of models. The exterior of the 2013 Mercedes E-Class has the high-end executive look. The styling is not over the top like other luxury vehicles but it does give off the luxury vibe. The E-Class looks good without trying too hard. Up front the daytime LED running lights are now the industry standard, the headlights look great, the front bumper has a bit of aggressiveness, and the big star emblem gives proper homage to the cars of yesteryear. Moving to the side, the E-Class has sharp angular lines and a bold shoulder line down the side. Out back the E-Class has nice looking LED tail lamps and a great dual Exhaust. Under the hood of the 2013 Mercedes E350 BlueTEC is a turbocharged 3.0 liter diesel V-6 that makes 210 horsepower and a whopping 400 lb-ft. of torque. This large amount of torque helps the E350 get going of the line. Fuel economy figures are 22 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway but owners say the actual figures are higher. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 handles quite well. The steering is responsive and the ride is comfortable. The price as mentioned before is over $52k for this E350 BlueTEC. For that money though you get comfortable heated leather seats, steering wheel mounted controls, a nice Navigation system, rear privacy curtain, the COMMAND infotainment system, and a ton of safety features. With this 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTEC you are not only getting luxury but you are getting great fuel economy. If you want a full or mid-sized luxury sedan with diesel, you really only have a few options. The E350 BlueTEC is classy, powerful, and fuel efficient. 86FEST Import Car Show Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota AE-86 @ Fontana Auto Club Speedway
http://www.autobytel.com/scion/fr-s/2013/?id=32972 Autobytel's own FR-S fanatic T.J. Keon was recently invited out to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA for the first ever 86FEST, a gathering and celebration of all things Toyobaru and pays homage to the original AE-86 with everything from a car show to on track activities. We were fortunate enough to catch up with the man who loves little red Hachis more than anyone else, Antonio Alvendia, from Cipher Garage and MotorMavens.com and is responsible for 86FEST. Scion Racing driver Ken Gushi was also on hand to talk about drifting as well as daily driving an FR-S after signing a few autographs and smoking a few sets of tires. Finally we were able to catch up with Speedhunter Larry Chen where the Drift Photo aficionado shared a story of a very special Hachi Roku with only 48 original kilometers that had been kept in a basement for the past 25 years he found on a recent trip to Belgium. Coupe/Compact Car of the Year - 2013 Subaru BRZ @ Chicago Auto Show
http://www.autobytel.com/subaru/brz/2013/ The 2013 Subaru BRZ was voted Compact Car of the Year by Autobytel's Editorial Team. Editor-in-Chief Michelle Naranjo was at the Chicago Auto Show to present the award to Dominick Infante from Subaru. When asked about how the BRZ has been received, Dominick tells us "We can only really say it has been a home run. We have been incredibly pleased with how the BRZ has been received by the media, owners, and buyers. Sales have been tremendous and the car is basically sold out. Hopefully we can get a few more cars imported this year. The 2013 Subaru BRZ is exactly what we wanted it to be: a great handling, affordable, and fun to drive sports car." 2013 Scion FR-S New Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/scion/fr-s/2013/?id=32972 The FR-S in the 2013 Scion FR-S stands for front engine, rear wheel drive sports car. This 2-door coupe is a very fun car to drive and is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru. Back in 2007 the 2 manufacturers decided to build this car together so much of the engine technology, parts, and even the chassis is shared. Base price on the 2013 Scion FR-S is $24,200. The 2013 Scion FR-S is powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine which is a essentially a flat-4 cylinder motor developed by Subaru. Power is pretty good for a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter engine at 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft. of torque. There are 2 different transmission choices: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The automatic transmission is much more fuel efficient at 25 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway. The Scion FR-S was designed to be a great handling everyday affordable sports car and while this vehicle does not have a ton of power, it does have a great center of gravity and almost perfect weight distribution (for a front engine car) at 55% front and 45% rear. To illustrate just how serious the engineers are about the handling capabilities of the 2013 Scion FR-S, the car has a lower center of gravity than both a Nissan GTR and Porsche Boxster which are considered some of the best handling cars in the world. The exterior of the Scion FR-S conveys a ton of fun. Scion calls this styling Neo-Functional Design and the car is all about being low, light, and beautiful. It is all about power-to-weight ratio in this car and features like an aluminum hood help keep the curb weight down to 2750 lbs. The 17-inch alloy wheels are not only very stong and lightweight but they also look good! The dual Exhaust system and rear diffuser really tie the whole look of the rear end together. With the 2013 Scion FR-S you will be able to accessorize and customize this car in a number of different ways by choosing the paint color, adding optional wheels and a body kit, or upgrading the stereo. The Scion FR-S was designed from the ground up to be an affordable car that you could drive on the streets then take out on the track for a little fun. 2013 Scion FR-S Pro-Celebrity Race Car, Shakedown and Media Preview
While this was a track event at Streets of Willow Springs Raceway, we did drive with very safe open track rules and this was not a race not time attack, but more a sampling with respect and safety for the precious cars that was due to make an appearance at 2013 Long Beach GP. So please respect the mild driving as it was not a full on time attack testing.

New Toyota GT86 TURBO vs McLaren MP4-12C
The Toyota GT86 has beautiful handling, but Steve Sutcliffe thinks it needs some more poke. Luckily Fensport has built a turbo version... SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar We're big fans of the Toyota GT86, but always wondered what it would be like with more power and stickier tyres. About 250bhp and 250lb ft of torque should do it, so we sent Steve Sutcliffe to compare the Fensport GT86 turbo with the standard coupe. When Fensport then gave us the keys to their mind-blowing 335bhp GT86 racer, we decided to see just how hard a McLaren 12C would need to be driven to keep up with the humble Toyota. Renault Clio RS 200 Turbo vs Toyota GT86 - autocar.co.uk
The Renault Clio RS 200 is one of the most eagerly-awaited hot hatches, but how does it compare to the Toyota GT86? SUBSCRIBE to Autocar: http://youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=autocar The all-new Renaultsport Clio RS 200 is a radical departure. Gone is the free-breathing 2.0-litre and manual 'box, replaced by a 1.6-litre turbo with a six-speed paddle-shift and an all-new chassis. It's something of a techno-fest to the point you can even choose how the engine sounds. So, how would it fare against the very honest and rear-wheel drive Toyota GT86? Steve Sutcliffe drove them back-to-back at the Clio's launch. Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S v Nissan 370Z v Used Porsche Cayman S - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS
We know it works on track, but is 200hp enough on the road? You can get a 370Z for similar money. Or a used Cayman S. If the GT 86 can do the business here, it has to be one of the great cars of 2012.

**Subscribe and dont forget to rate more videos in my channel* In car video chasing a Porsche GT3 @ Circuit of the americas COTA in the FR-S. Best lap from Feb 01-03 was a 2:40.8 and top speed in the back straight was 117 MPH, as the day warmed up so did my front tires and i started getting a bit of understeer and my time would go up. The FR-S is a well balanced car but lacks power in a track like COTA. Im sure the GT3 driver was either on street tires or not pushing the car all the way but man i had fun chasing him down. Just for reference a well setup gt3 should clock a 2:22.0 - 2:32.0 depending on driver, brakes, suspension, and tires.
