and very rare car.It only has about 98,000 Original Miles or 153k
Kilometers This is a 450SEL Euro Grey Market car and it is a true 6.9. I
love the looks of this car. It has the sucked in bumpers which are only
allowed on euro cars. It has 285hp and 405 ft lbs of torque which is quite
a bit more then they alllowed in the amercian models. The paint is faded
but the body is very straight. Has lots of chrome that looks great and just
shines in the sun. Has the nice factory bundt wheels that look really good.
One of the coolest things about the car is the factory hydraulic
suspension. It all works in this car as I show in the video. The interior
is very clean as you can see. It has the clothe interior which is a option
you don't see very often. Looks great and is clean and doesn't show much
wear. This is a rare car that you just don't see to many like these days.

The Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 is a high-performance version of the S-Class
luxury saloon. It was built on its own assembly line by Daimler-Benz in
Stuttgart, Germany and based on the long-wheelbase version of the W116
chassis introduced in 1972. The model was generally referred to in the
company's literature as the "6.9", to separate it from the regular 450SEL.
The 6.9 was first shown to the motoring press at the Geneva Auto Show in
1974, and produced between 1975 and 1981 in extremely limited numbers. It
was billed as the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz car line, and the successor
to Mercedes-Benz's original high-performance sedan, the 300SEL 6.3. The 6.9
also has the distinction of being among the first vehicles ever produced
with optional electronically controlled anti-lock brakes, first introduced
by Mercedes-Benz and Bosch in 1978. The 6.9's successor — the top of
range 500 SEL — continued the 6.9's remarkable self-leveling
hydropneumatic suspension as an extra-cost option.
The 6.9 was the first Mercedes-Benz to be fitted with the hydropneumatic
self-levelling suspension system introduced by Citroën in 1954, unlike the
600 and 6.3 which employed air suspensions. Using a combination of
fluid-filled struts and nitrogen-filled pressure vessels or "accumulators"
in lieu of conventional shock absorbers and springs, the system was
pressurized by a hydraulic pump driven by the engine's timing chain.
Compared to the new Mercedes-Benz system, Citroën's was belt-driven,
exactly like a conventional power steering pump; failure of the Citroën
system thus might result in loss of suspension. Conversely, every unit of
the 6.9 was shipped with hard rubber emergency dampers that served as
temporary springs and allowed the car to be driven in the event of a
hydraulic failure. The special hydraulic fluid required by the system was
stored in a tank inside the engine compartment. Not only was the system
totally self-adjusting, ride height could be altered by a dash-mounted
push-pull knob under the speedometer that raised the car an additional two
inches (50 mm) for increased ground clearance.

300D Mercedes - Bleeding Engine
$300 car, all it needed was a bleeding and then it drove great. It was
sitting in this guy's yard for 2 1/2 years with air in the engine due to a
loose fuel filter. He thought it was broken so he gave it away =] engine
has only 195,000 miles on it, which is nothing for these cars. It has the
standard straight 5 engine.
I will be using this car in my first veggie oil conversion project.

Biggest Challenge When Removing a Mercedes Diesel Starter Motor
lacement-1969-1985. Getting the hex head bolts out can be the toughest part
of the job - especially the top bolt. You just can't get a straight shot at
it and both bolts seem to be on way too tight. That means you also need
something that can deliver a lot of torque.
This primarily applies to the 1969 to 1985 220D, 240D, 300D, 300CD, 300TD

This timeless Mercedes-Benz is finished in Metallic Champagne, (colour code

the lacquer has lifted and tiny micro-blisters on very close inspection.
The lower front valance has some small touch up marks. Massively
impressive from any angle and structurally perfect with a clean, fresh
appearance. A wonderful example of elegant design and remarkable

interior. Finished in Cream Velour, (code 955) a light and spacious
environment greets the owner. The clean seats show no wear and are very
comfortable with 'breathing covers' and contoured shaping to support the
body. The high quality deep pile carpets are in amazing condition having
been protected from new by original fit Mercedes-Benz over-mats. As with
the rest of the interior, the wood veneer remains in excellent condition
and all the gauges, controls and electrics operate perfectly. There is a
small mark on the rear parcel shelf and rear seat top. The Mercedes-Benz
tool roll is complete and the first aid kit is still preserved and retained
in the original polythene wrapping. Perfect detail and fine appointments
all representative of a cherished Mercedes-Benz.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The four-cylinder in-line engine with fuel injection produces 136bhp and
has tremendous torque low in the engine speed range offering relaxed and
flexible power delivery. Incredibly smooth thanks in part to fine
engineering of all moving parts but also to an additional vibration damper
on the crankshaft it offers sheer cruising pleasure. The optional
four-speed torque convertor transmission is seamless in operation. An
altogether flawless and assuring drive. Mercedes-Benz at its best.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Steel wheels with original chrome Mercedes-Benz hubcaps, colour coded,
remain on the car. The hubcaps are in beautiful condition with a few minor
markings. Shod in quality 175/80 R14 Firestone F580 tyres. Dual-circuit
power braking system with front brake pad wear indicators give the car a
steady and assured feel as you would except from Mercedes-Benz.
Factory ordered on the 14th May 1984 by Mrs P Moody at a cost of
£13,557.54 and delivered by Rivervale of Brighton Ltd on the 2nd of
October 1984 this vehicle remained in her care for 18 years. Left to her
Housekeepers on passing away they continued to cherish the car keeping it
religiously maintained and garaged. After 6 years of ownership the car has
been enjoyed by four Mercedes advocates and has twice been sold by Cheshire
Classic Benz Ltd, the lastest in 2010 for the sum of £6200.
Original maintenance books, handbooks and purchase invoice remain with the
car. The maintenance booklet is absolutely complete with main dealer and
specialist entries, the last entry being in June 2012 at 113,901 miles.
