So God Made a Soldier
This is my adaptation of the So God Made a Farmer speech given by the late radio broadcaster Paul Harvey. This speech was made famous in the 2013 Dodge super bowl commercial it featured in. This adaptation corresponds directly to the farmer speech if you look at them side by side. The only things that are not my property are the photos and the background song "Always Gonna Be That Way" by Trace Adkins. The rest, including the video and the speech are 100% my creation and my property that is not to be misused. I'm not an active duty or former serviceman, so the words written are merely my expectations from what I've learned from veterans. If you are a current or former member of the United States military I hope this video doesn't offend you, it was a tribute to your contributions. Thank-you for your service. This is not an attempt for publicity, and all those who use the military or religion as an attempt for 'likes' or 'shares' should be ashamed of themselves. I wrote this poem for my great aunt who was an activist for the freeing of the Vietnam POWs in Hanoi, and who has heard about my writing skills and nationalist philosophies and wanted to see something I wrote. I did this because this is what I believe, there were no ulterior motives involved. If you want the context of the peom you can find it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e92_JBQh6HKrrgQNVuc28tSDO4kwGBxwmAtb7Yf 5das/edit?usp=sharing Thank-you and God bless you, I hope you enjoyed the video.

Official Ram Trucks Super Bowl Commercial "Farmer"
And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer. God said, "I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the field, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board." So God made a farmer. God said, "I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt and watch it die, then dry his eyes and say,'Maybe next year,' I need somebody who can shape an ax handle from an ash tree, shoe a horse with hunk of car tire, who can make a harness out hay wire, feed sacks and shoe scraps. Who, during planting time and harvest season will finish his 40-hour week by Tuesday noon and then, paining from tractor back, put in another 72 hours." So God made the farmer. God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees and heave bales, yet gentle enough to yean lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink-comb pullets, who will stop his mower for an hour to splint the leg of a meadowlark." It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight and not cut corners. Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed, and brake, and disk, and plow, and plant, and tie the fleece and strain the milk, . Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft, strong bonds of sharing, who would laugh, and then sigh and then reply with smiling eyes when his son says that he wants to spend his life doing what Dad does. "So God made a farmer."
