The powerful 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe laps the Nürburgring as if it was born to be there. The CTS-V handles surprisingly well despite its weight, but a gentle powerslide can quickly turn into a horrible accident. Driving the CTS-V Coupe is certainly a thrilling experience, especially on the Green Hell. One of the fastest American cars on the market today is also one of the most fun.
I make a few mistakes in this lap, but I think it illustrates how fine the line between control and chaos is in this car. No damage, but certainly some close calls. The idea wasn't a flawless lap, but rather a fun and exciting one. I think the CTS-V coupe did a good job of accomplishing that.
Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG Nürburgring Lap
The Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG is a luxury cruiser for Germany's autobahn. But
don't let this luxury car and it's 4938 lb curb weight fool you. This
monster has a 604 horspeower V12 that propels it to 60 mph in only 3.8
seconds. If you have enough space, it will eventually reach 214 mph. The
CL65 AMG goes crazy fast, but is smooth and easy to drive, even when you're
pushing the limits.
2010 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart - Test Track Run
The brand new 2010 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart takes a lap around the
Sidewinder handling test track. With 0.90 lateral g's, the Colt Ralliart
grips decently, but is plagued by terrible body roll. 145 horspeower gives
this mini Evo some grunt, especially with a curb weight of only 2337 lbs.
To be completely honest, the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart isn't terrible fun to
drive, thanks to truly epic amounts of body roll. Give this little car some
ARBs and stiffer shocks and it should feel a whole lot better.
2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Nürburgring Lap
The Mercedes-Benz C63 is a true autobahn animal. The sound this car makes
is amazing, and something you could listen to all day. This 451 horsepower RWD monster is
quite tail happy , which is to be expected. It's a thrill to drive if you
can control the oversteer and keep out of the wall.

I didn't even realize how fast I was going. I took the CTS-V coupe on a
nice test drive - in excess of 85mph !!!

weight of only 2,116 lbs makes this one nimble hot hatch. The Mazda 2 takes

The first generation Cadillac CTS-V debuted back in 2004 and came with an
engine out of a C5 generation Corvette. This CTS-V flew under the radar for
a few years until the release of the second generation car back in 2009.
This model turned the automotive world on its side thanks to a
fire-breathing supercharged V-8 motor that made 556 horsepower and set a factory

Cadillac does a great job of distinguishing their V-Series cars and the
CTS-V has a handful of cues that tell the eagle-eyed enthusiast this car
means business. First thing you notice is the shiny mesh, aggressive lower
front fascia, massive black rims, and red Brembo brake calipers. The coupe
itself is a cool looking car with the angular shape and metallic paint job.
Out back the CTS-V sports an integrated rear wing and a trick center mount
Under the hood is where the magic happens. The 2014 Cadillac CTS-V is
powered by an LSA engine taken from a Corvette ZR-1. This Supercharged 6.2
Liter V-8 makes a whopping 556 horsepower and 551 lb-ft of
torque. The power is sent through a 6-speed transmission (auto or manual)
to the rear wheels. This luxury coupe looks good, sounds good, feels good,
and most importantly goes like a bat out of hell. The interior is very
driver focused. The model tested here is outfitted with the $3400 Recaro
performance seating package. An Alcantara treatment is given to the
steering wheel and shift knob.
The real thrill of any V-Series Cadillac is driving it. The CTS-V offers
you a great driving position with an unobstructed view of the road. More
importantly though is the great engine and gearbox sending that power to
the rear wheels which means fun. The ride is perfect thanks to the
Magnetic-Controlled shocks that are usually found on high priced exotics.
Now this may be the swan song for the Cadillac CTS-V coupe edition and if
so we will always smile about how it lived.
