Yes it has a big V8, but it is the quality of this car that sets it apart. It is subtle enough that you may not notice it. The fender flares that are so well integrated that they look stock, then they flow perfectly to the rocker panel ground effects in a seamless manner. The GTO vents on the fender. It just all works.
450hp LS1 1978 Datsun 280Z
One of the coolest imports I've had the opportunity to see in action, this
extremely streetable 1978 Datsun 280z takes it's first trip to the drag
strip to do some testing. The car has an LS1 with heads, cam, and FAST
intake manifold putting down around 450 wheel horsepower! Best 1/8 mile
time was 7.11 for the night.

Junkyard Turbo Swap! Chevy-Powered 1971 Datsun 240Z Autocross Thrash - Roadkill Ep. 26
What do you get when you cross a rusted 1971 Datsun 240Z with a Chevy 4.3L
V6 and a turbo from a Ford Power Stroke
Diesel? The Rotsun! During Roadkill Episode 25, Freiburger and Finnegan
revived the Rotsun expecting it to dominate in the 9-car autocross showdown
of previous Roadkill project cars. It also needed to beat a 2014 Kia Rio 5,
but failed to do so with the Rotsun shamefully breaking down before
completing a decent lap. So in this episode: revenge. After swapping in the
mismatched turbo and making nearly 400
rear-wheel horsepower, the guys head to
the autocross at the Goodguys 5th Spring Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona
and mingle with fans on their way to a rematch with that dastardly Kia.
Roadkill appears every fourth Friday on the Motor Trend channel.

1972 Datsun 240Z run. (One last good time before I sold it)
Right before I sold it...
Clicking noise is a leak in the balancing tube (welded day after this
video) Some sloppy shifts due to slack in the rear end and un-adjusted
clutch with cracked clutch arm bracket.
I loved/love this car! So much fun to drive...
untuned and unmuffled idle, 240Z 3.1 stroker
Quick demo of the new race headers (Stahl), at no point does the engine rev
above 3k rpm (despite how it sounds at 1:25). Other coincident upgrades
include titanium valve spring retainers, single valve springs (outer
springs only) that the cam was profiled for, and a crank/damper/flywheel
balance for 10,000 rpm.
And yes, that's coolant on the ground during the idle portion. Evidently I
didn't tighten one of the thermocouple housings all the way. Oops.
Between moving and other logistical challenges, I barely had the time to
get the new race motor installed and minimally operational before sticking
it back in the trailer for 6 months of storage, after which the engine
360HP STAR ROAD DATSUN FAIRLADY S30Z WALKAROUND
Come and take a closer look at Star Road's insane L28 powered S30Z Fairlady
that is literally the perfect mix of both the old and new schools. I walk
you around the car, showing you the immense amounts of detail that have
gone into it. It is currently developing a screaming naturally aspirated
360hp, revs to 8000rpm and includes one of the most impressive engine bays
you will ever see including a special custom carburettor/injection setup
that is monitored by MoTec engine management and a full Defi system.
You would struggle to find a better modern take on a classic like the
Fairlady anywhere else on the planet.
