MotorWeek road test review of the 2012 Hyundai Azera. Hyundai is clearly not satisfied with being a major player in just the small and mid-size car and crossover ranks. They've also had success luxury segments with cars like Genesis and Equus. But, one area where success has eluded them is in the large family sedan. They've tried with the XG300 in 2001 and Azera starting in 2006. Still, sales were disappointing. But, Hyundai never says never, and for 2012 the Azera is all-new. So let's see if this time their efforts pay off big.

2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Test Drive & Crossover SUV Video Review

It's hard to believe that the Santa Fe came out back in 1998. Back then there were not many crossovers on the market yet. Now that practically every automobile manufacturer has a crossover, Hyundai is playing it smart. They have gotten rid of the Veracruz model and then Hyundai has created a long wheel base and a short wheel base Santa Fe. Prices start at $24,450.
There are 2 different engine options available on the 2013 Santa Fe Sport. The first is a direct injected 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 190 horsepower and 181 lb-ft. of torque. The second engine is a 2.0 liter turbocharged and gasoline direct injected motor that makes 264 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. of torque. The standard transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is 31 MPG combined for the turbo and 33 MPG combined for the naturally aspirated engine.
On the inside the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has a great 8-inch Navigation as an option. The panoramic sunroof is ultra cool and lets rear passengers enjoy the fresh air and sunlight. The Santa Fe Sport comes standard with many great features like cruise control, power windows and locks, Bluetooth, and steering wheel mounted audio controls to name a few. Safety wise the Santa Fe comes with 7 airbags, stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. These items are all standard on the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
Many improvements have been made and maybe the most important is the reduction in weight. The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe weighs 266 lbs. less than the previous model. That weight reduction has a positive effect on fuel economy. The Santa Fe Sport can carry up to 5 people. The rear seat is a 40/20/40 split bench making for a versatile crossover SUV. You can order the Santa Fe in either FWD or AWD configurations.
The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport is priced right alongside its competition. But with the Santa Fe you get more standard features for your money along with a great 10 year 100k mile warranty.

The latest Hyundai Santa Fe is a huge step forward from the car it replaces, both in terms of design and interior quality. However, it comes with a price to match, stretching Hyundai's reputation for offering value for money further than any car it has ever released before. The five-year warranty package remains, as does the powerful 2.2-litre diesel engine, but the Santa Fe now costs a similar amount to Honda's new CR-V.
