Starting in 2008, previous 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustangs could be sent to Carroll
Shelby's Special Performance Plant in Las Vegas to be rebuilt into a Super
Snake, which resembles the 1968 GT500KR, for an additional cost of $27,995.
The Super Snake will offer a 605 hp 5.4LEaton roots type supercharged
version with warranty. A Kenne Bell twin-screw supercharged version with
"over 725 hp" will also be available, without warranty and a 0-60 time of
under 4 seconds. The Super Snake is inspired by the 1967 GT500 Super
Snake, a car made by Carroll Shelby for Goodyear Tires
Automobile racer Carroll Shelby transformed a conventional Mustang into a serious track racer
designated as the "GT-350". The fastbacks were shipped from the San Jose,
California assembly plant and fitted with a "Hi-Po" 289, 4-speed manual
transmission, and included front disc brakes and heavy duty rear drum
brakes. Additionally, shortened hoods and deleted rear seats with
identifying trim were among the visual variations. These select Mustangs were converted to street,
road racing, and drag cars in Shelby's plant at Los Angeles International

We followed this very rare Shelby GT500 Super Snake. The Bugatti Veyron and the Super Snake belongs
to 1 owner who has more exotic cars. The drivers of these two cars are not
the owners but they were permitted to borrow these cars for the event :-)

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake - 750 Horsepower ROAD TEST
I was lucky enough to get the keys to this awesome car and wanted to share
my quick blast up this canyon road with any fellow gear heads. I'm just
your average car lover that happened upon this great opportunity to wheel
one of the fastest production Mustangs ever made! Chevy, Mopar or
Ford guys should appreciate this car...750 horsepower in a production
street car is flat-out cool. Unfortunately my lack of skills don't do this
car justice on the road...but this video will give you a taste of the
immense power, ferocious sounds and sexy yet menacing looks of this
American muscle car.

1927 Ford: Double-Trouble -- /BIG MUSCLE

In the world of hot-rodding there are few cars that are going to leave as
big an impression as this - the 1927 Ford Model T custom simply known as
"Double-Trouble". It rides on a custom-built tube chassis that's fabricated
from 1.5-inch tube. Is powered by two 4.6-liter modular V8s from Ford with
four, count 'em, FOUR Superchargers for
an approximate power output of around 1,200 hp. It also utilizes the
rear-end (inboard disc brakes and all) from an early Jaguar. It's a rolling
a Hot Wheels car and a masterpiece of engineering that is sure to make all
your naughty bits tingle.

When we first pitted the Camaro SS against the Mustang GT, Ford fans complained it
was an unfair race given the horsepower disparity. But
now Ford has tipped the scale way back in it's advantage with the top of
the line supercharged snake, the GT500. We head to the drag strip to see
how the underdog Chevy stacks up.

We're looking at the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR and 2008 Chevrolet Corvette
Z06, but we're imagining a '68 Shelby GT500KR staging next to a Corvette
with one of the 427-cubic-inch V8s on the Connecting Highway in Queens, New
York, probably sometime during the Nixon administration. We don't know how
the cars are tuned or which driver has the better hole-shot technique, but
we're calling our street race in favor of the Vette.
You see, there's no historical basis for a close Corvette-Mustang rivalry. A Corvette of any
year is a little too fast and smart to be street racing ratty muscle cars.
It's a real sports car, the kind of car that's still fun when you start
going around corners.
But maybe it's a different story with this 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR and
2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Each of these rear-wheel-drive coupes has a V8
rated for more than 500 horsepower at the flywheel.
And with the release of the limited-edition 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR, Ford
has moved in on Chevrolet's price territory. The GT500KR leaves the Ford
factory as a $46,730 GT500 coupe and is shipped as a rolling chassis to
Carroll Shelby's facility near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada. By
the time the KR cruises out of Shelby's shop, it's an $82,395 Mustang.
As such, the King-of-the-Road Mustang must now contend with this
$76,920 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. And though the Z06 is a few horsepower shy of the
upcoming ZR1, it's not an easy mark. The GT500KR will have to play like a
sports car just to keep up.
