The Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 constitutes a revolution in efficiency, safety and networking, a revolution for road traffic and its infrastructure, for professional driving and for the road transport sector. This is not a new truck, but rather the key element in the interconnected transport system of the future. It is being developed as part of the "Shaping Future Transportation" initiative by Daimler Trucks to conserve resources and reduce emissions of all kinds. Other aims are to ensure the highest possible level of traffic safety and to Boost networking with intelligent data management considerably for tailor-made vehicle and service solutions. The prototype demonstrated the exciting capabilities of the Future Truck 2025 back in the summer at speeds of up to 80 km/h in realistic traffic situations on a section of the A14 motorway in Magdeburg, Germany. Now the thrilling exterior and interior of that same vehicle are being revealed. Autonomous driving: One of the most interesting questions on the subject of autonomous driving is the time horizon envisaged for its realisation. In purely technical terms, turning it into reality on the roads is already feasible within around five years. In terms of passenger car development cycles, a possible start is envisaged in 2020. Owing to the more complex factors for heavy commercial vehicles, the time horizon for such vehicles will, however, be rather longer – realistically implementation is possible within ten years, also in view of the legal considerations that still remain to be clarified. The introduction of autonomous driving will not happen digitally from one day to the next, as development is progressing in a gradual manner: evolutionary stages are necessary to revolutionise goods haulage on the roads. 2014 Mercedes E400 (333hp) AMG Line - DRIVE & SOUND (1080p)
The full DRIVE & SOUND test with the facelifted 2014 Mercedes-Benz E400 Sedan/Limousine powered by a 3.0 Biturbo V6 delivering 333 hp and 480 Nm of torque throughout a very wide power-band. My special thanks go to the Torpedo Garage in Kaiserslautern (www.torpedo-garage.de) that provided the E400 and let me take all the time I needed to test it. Instead of double clutch transmissions Mercedes sticks to its 7G-Tronic PLUS gearbox which definitely has its advantages on the comfort side not on the fast shiftings. Still, the figures are impressive if you consider this being equally quick as a new Golf 7 R or a Jaguar F-Type V6 Coupe, at least on the Autobahn. Actually Mercedes recently announced a change for the 2015 model-year which includes an upgrade to a 3.5 liter machine, still being a V6 Biturbo with the same power. Looking at the E-Class it seems that only the 4Matic versions and the new CLS 400 will be getting the 3.5, RWD sedan, C 400 and SL 400 still sticking to the 3.0. Especially with the optional AMG Line trim this car looks great, very sporty and understated. The Air suspension makes this car very comfortable on long Autobahn trips without really being un-sporty!
