Spec Miata Battle at Mission Raceway Park

A great race with six lead changes, bump drafting, lots of oversteer and tight clean racing. This was a fight till almost the last lap at Mission's River's Edge Roadcourse in Mission BC. This was also the Sports Car Club of British Columbia's 60th Anniversary Weekend on April 14th 2011. Best parts on the video: 6:15(Very sideways entering turn 4) 11:03 (Loosing the back end on turn 1 allowing Mark to get along side) 13:30 (Catching up to back markers and bump drafting on the main straight) 15:20 (The intense battle begins and we start pushing the cars to the ragged edge till the chequered flag) After the battle Mark and I both drove our cars home on public streets!

Todd Schiewe (#124 IP1 Corvette ZR6) manages to keep a fair distance away from Tracey Pearson (#702 Mazda Miata) and breezes through to first in his class, second in the race and sets a new lap record of 1:12:460 for IP1 class. Tracey Pearson in turn finished third overall only to be disqualified due to wrong class classification. Doug Yip (#782 GT1 Ford Mustang) finishes 3rd overall and 2nd in-class. Adam Redavid (#717 IPE Mazda RX6) battles it out with Larry Bell (#218 GT1 Pontiac Firebird) all through laps 5 and 6 eventually taking turn one of lap seven too hard resulting in a 180 spin but manages to catch up by the end to finish 6th overall and first in class. Larry Bell finishes 7th overall and 3rd in class. Shawn Banner (#830 IPE VW Rabbit) leaps on the grass in turn 4 on the first lap of the race but manages to gain one position from qualifying by the end of the race despite the detour. Andrei Kisel (#55 B-spec Mini Cooper) finishes the race in 18th position, 2nd in class, with the right shock absorber broken in-half, all the while keeping hot on the track of B-Spec class leader Cherie Storms (#16 B-spec Mazda 2) who finishes 1st in B-Spec and 17th overall. Norm Berard (#76 B-spec Honda Fit) and Lisa Chen (#20 B-spec Ford Fiesta) both get disqualified for being underweight but still have a good time jockeying for position against each other.
