1979 Volkswagen Beetle Walk Around

1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Gateway Classic Cars Orlando #115
For sale in our Orlando showroom is a 1978 Volkswagen Beetle. Dubbed the Super Beetle the type 1303 saw many modern upgrades that set the last generation of beetle apart from its predecessors in handling and technology. Replacing the bulky and outdated torsion bar suspension setup VW decided to integrate the MacPherson strut style independent front suspension beam. This made the turning radius sharper and also made the vehicle handle safer in the event of a blowout. Upgrades to the engine included the addition of the Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system which was a redesign of the D-Jetronic system found in Type 3’s and Porsche 914’s. This newer fuel injection system was a lot less temperamental than the D-Jet systems but still provided plucky acceleration while adhering to an ever tightening emissions protocol. The effect the beetle has had on the world is undeniable, just about everyone has a story of either themselves or someone they know that used to own one or still does. The Beetle is still seen today cruising around town or competing quite well in the baja 1000. Our fine example is an actual mileage numbers matching Karman convertible. This fun little bug has been lovingly taken care of by its current owner with up to date maintenance and very few modifications. The original fuel injection system is still in place and functioning just like it did from the showroom, the only upgrades that have been done were the addition of a modern sound system and updated speakers. The 1600cc dual port engine fires up with ease and the transmission shifts like butter through all the gears. This striking factory original marino yellow bug is the perfect vehicle for those beach days or cool nights, just drop the top and enjoy the drive. With a vehicle that has been in production in one way or another from 1938-2003 with very little in design changes the beetle is a cool collectible vehicle whose cost of maintenance and upkeep make it a classic worth keeping. Located in our Orlando Showroom, this 1978 Volkswagen Beetle can be seen including HD pictures and videos at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Classics Revealed: The Original Volkswagen Beetle Convertible
( http://www.TFLcar.com ) An Original Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is a rare car indeed. Well at least rare when it comes to the classic VW Beetle. While they build over 300,000 of first generation Beetle convertibles, they built over 21 million of the same basic car but with a hard top. Recently Volkswagen rolled out the 3rd generation of the iconic Beetle at the LA Auto Show but at the same time they brought some of the original convertibles to California. In the exclusive TFLcar video we drive an original 1979 1500 cc fuel injected model that had only 250 miles on the clock when we took the wheel. In fact this museum car from Germany is a time machine straight from the factory floor.
