The New E: 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 Full Test by Edmunds
FULL MERCEDES E550 ARTICLE @ INSIDELINE.COM:
Here's the biggest difference between the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 and the 2009 Mercedes-Benz E550: The 2010 costs $5,400 less.
Usually, we save money matters for the end of a Mercedes E-Class road test. First we tell you that it has a perfectly relaxing ride quality and a smooth V8 with an indiscreet amount of torque. Then we describe a down-to-business cabin dominated by leather, wood and COMAND. Finally, though, we have to talk about money, and, well, Benz has a well-earned reputation for pricing its sedans higher than everybody else.
But this time it's different. When the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 goes on sale in June, its $57,175 base price will land it smack in the middle of the V8 midsize luxury sedan class. It's also cheaper than anything else coming out of Germany.
Spicy Volvo? New 2010 Volvo XC60 Tested
FULL VOLVO XC60 INFO @ INSIDELINE.COM:
After driving the 2010 Volvo XC60 through our slalom test at 65.1 mph —
the second-fastest speed we've recorded in this vehicle segment — two
observations were easy to make: 1) This SUV handles — probably better
than it needs to; 2) will anyone care?
After all, we don't know any Volvo owners who list "lightning-quick
reflexes" among their top purchase priorities. But maybe that's just it.
Maybe Volvo is expanding its horizons. You certainly won't catch us
complaining that any crossover utility vehicle handles too well.
As a result, one thing is certain: Volvo realizes that performance is a
priority in this segment. And by that measure, yes, people will care. But
there are other benefits as well.
Z4 Reborn: 2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i Full Test
CHECK OUT FULL ARTICLE @ INSIDELINE.COM:
There's this guy at work (let's call him Dan) who never warmed up to BMW's
Z3 and Z4 roadsters. Something about them simply didn't ring true.
"The original Z3 seemed like a reactionary car," says Dan, "a concept BMW
didn't really believe in themselves. But everyone had to respond after the
Mazda Miata reinvigorated the demand for small two-seat sports cars."
And the result seemed like an über-Miata, too — except the super-suit
didn't fit well.
BMW must have felt the same way, because the redesigned car received
significant changes and a new name: Z4. Attempts to tailor the suit
included a wheelbase stretched by nearly 2 inches, a stiffer chassis and a
much improved rear suspension.
But the magic still wasn't there and the Bangle-administration styling was
polarizing, if not confrontational. Doubters like Dan remained unconvinced.
"I remained unconvinced," says Dan.
So the recent arrival of the new 2009 BMW Z4 sDrive35i roadster at our
offices was met with considerable suspicion. Some approached it carrying a
grudge, in fact, because its new power-retractable hardtop signals the end
of dedicated fixed-roof versions like the M coupe, considered by some to be
the best thing about previous Z roadsters.

Consider that the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is nowhere near as quick as
the 2010 Porsche Panamera turbo and you
might be disappointed. With four doors and a power figure beginning with
the number five, the E63 should be capable of a toe-to-toe showdown with
the sedan from Stuttgart, right? But it's not even close, because the
Porsche is 0.7 second quicker in the quarter-mile and embarrasses the Benz
to 60 mph by a merciless 1.1 seconds.

2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which
German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe
is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very
limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under
its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507
more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the
Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features
a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507
Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch
transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear
differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which
one is best? Watch and find out!
