The New E: 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 Full Test by Edmunds
FULL MERCEDES E550 ARTICLE @ INSIDELINE.COM:
Here's the biggest difference between the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 and the 2009 Mercedes-Benz E550: The 2010 costs $5,400 less.
Usually, we save money matters for the end of a Mercedes E-Class road test. First we tell you that it has a perfectly relaxing ride quality and a smooth V8 with an indiscreet amount of torque. Then we describe a down-to-business cabin dominated by leather, wood and COMAND. Finally, though, we have to talk about money, and, well, Benz has a well-earned reputation for pricing its sedans higher than everybody else.
But this time it's different. When the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E550 goes on sale in June, its $57,175 base price will land it smack in the middle of the V8 midsize luxury sedan class. It's also cheaper than anything else coming out of Germany.
Spicy Volvo? New 2010 Volvo XC60 Tested
FULL VOLVO XC60 INFO @ INSIDELINE.COM:
After driving the 2010 Volvo XC60 through our slalom test at 65.1 mph —
the second-fastest speed we've recorded in this vehicle segment — two
observations were easy to make: 1) This SUV handles — probably better
than it needs to; 2) will anyone care?
After all, we don't know any Volvo owners who list "lightning-quick
reflexes" among their top purchase priorities. But maybe that's just it.
Maybe Volvo is expanding its horizons. You certainly won't catch us
complaining that any crossover utility vehicle handles too well.
As a result, one thing is certain: Volvo realizes that performance is a
priority in this segment. And by that measure, yes, people will care. But
there are other benefits as well.
Been CC'd? VW CC 2.0T Gets Tested by Edmunds' Inside Line
FULL VOLKWAGEN CC ARTICLE @ INSIDELINE.COM:
There are plenty of people who would like the 2009 Volkswagen CC a lot
better if it were ugly. Isn't a VW supposed to be ugly?
Hardly anyone has firsthand memories of the Volkswagen Bug anymore, and yet
the lumpy little People's Car follows VW around like some kind of family
curse, reminding everybody of a time when everything about Volkswagen
seemed wacky and comically futuristic, like a science fiction movie of the
1950s. The fatal flaw of the 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton might not have really
been its $66,700 price point but instead its refusal to embrace the
Of course, this is the very strength of the 2009 Volkswagen CC. It's
really, really stylish and yet it still has the soul of a plain, practical
sedan meant for our times of frugality and fuel-efficiency.
E-xciting! Mercedes E-Class Coupe @ 2009 Geneva Auto Show
MORE GENEVA MOTOR SHOW @ INSIDELINE.COM:
Now here's a face that's going to take some getting used to. We haven't
seen this many rhomboids on the front of a car since, well, ever.
The nose of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe is closely related to the
rhomboid-rific one on the recently unveiled E-Class sedan. Perhaps that's
not a surprise, given that the coupe shares the sedan's new W212 platform
and most of its name.
This move reflects the intention of Mercedes to tie its coupes and
convertibles more obviously to the high-volume sedans on which they are
based. The CLK — which this vehicle will replace — is not obviously
related to any other Mercedes model in name or style.
The new coupe is just about 2 inches longer and wider than the CLK. Thanks
to a wheelbase increase of similar measure, there should be more room
inside the E-Class coupe than the CLK. Stretched over those dimensions is a
body with a whole lot of surface excitement going on, so you cannot accuse
Mercedes of going conservative with this one. Thankfully, Mercedes has
retained the graceful look of the CLK roof — there's no B-pillar and both
front and rear windows go down.
Mercedes notes that the coupe has the lowest drag coefficient of any series
production car in the world at 0.24 Cd. Wouldn't have guessed that just by
looking, eh? But sometimes we prefer a different approach to punching a
hole in the air — it's called horsepower. We'll have to
wait until the E63 coupe arrives a little later, with an estimated 500 horsepower, to
conduct that particular test of power vs. wind resistance.
When the E-Class coupe goes on sale in the U.S. in June, it will be offered
in two models, the E350 with a 268-hp V6 and the E550 with a 382-hp V8. The
new coupes will come with a host of standard and optional new equipment,
including suspension with adaptive dampers, a feature meant to register any
drowsiness by the driver, and an adaptive high beam for the headlights that
uses a camera to scan for oncoming traffic and dips the high beams

( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The new 2013 Lexus GS 350 F is taking direct aim
at both the new Mercedes-Benz E350 and the new BMW 535i. We recently had a
chance to drive all three cars on the race track in Las Vegas to compare
how well the newest and perhaps sexiest Lexus does against these two very
well regarded and long established German luxury performance sedans. Check
out this first drive review of the 2013 Lexus GS 350 F as we test all
three cars head to head.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model 4Matic Wagon vs. Icon Derelict! - Head 2 Head Ep. 41
On this week's episode of Head 2 Head, certified wagon-freak Jonny
Lieberman pits two of the very coolest station wagons in the world against
each other. More than just cool, these are also two of the rarest wagons on
earth. In fact, the E63 AMG Wagon is the rarest car Mercedes sells in the
U.S. It's special order only through the dealer — it's not even on their
website. Of course, the Icon Derelict is its own form of rare, being one of
one. The Derelict started life out back in 1952 as a Chrysler Town &
Country Custom Wagon, but things have changed. As for the E63 Wagon, we
learned at Best Driver's Car that the stealthy Mercedes is quicker than
several supercars. But does it have what it takes to defeat Icon's icon?

2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupe! - Head 2 Head Ep. 51
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which
German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get. The 507 Coupe
is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very
limited-run Black Series, it's the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under
its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507
more do you want? Perhaps something more high-tech, and that's where the
Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features
a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507
Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch
transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear
differential. Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which
one is best? Watch and find out!
