burt munro land speed record.Herbert James 'Burt' Munro (25 March 1899-6 January 1978) was a New Zealand motorcycle racer. Burt Munro lived in the city Invercargill on the South Island. In 1920 he bought an Indian Scout motorcycle where he was for many years tinkering to make it faster and faster. In 1938 he made this his first speed record. In the 50s and 60s he has motor racing ten visits that are held each year at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Here he has three times the speed record for the class under 1000 cc. His last record (1967, 295.44 km / h) has not been broken yet. Once his speed was measured at 324.85 km / h, but this is not an official record. The Indian Scout, which was named by the Munro Munro Special, is still on display in a shop in Invercargill.
