Climb - Pikes Peak Hill Climb with a Monster
Ride on the bumper of a screaming 910hp, Twin-turbo, All-wheel Drive, 150 mph Suzuki SX4 as it
races up one of the world's most dangerous hills. An attempt by the
"Monster" to break his own record of 10:01:41...
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (June 29, 2010) -- For the fifth consecutive time,
Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima combined experience, skill and Falken Tires to
claim overall victory in the 88th running of the Pikes Peak International
Although he did not set a new Pikes Peak record, one day before his 60th
birthday, Tajima continues to hold the current overall record for reaching
the peak, beating hill climb veterans Paul Dallenbach and Rhys Millen in
the Unlimited Class. He drove his new 910-hp Monster Sport Suzuki SX4 Hill
Climb Special on Falken WildPeak A/T tires, the powerful new line of
all-terrain, all-season tires Falken launched this past April.
Following Exhaustive tests in a
Japanese wind tunnel facility, Monster's 2010 Pikes Peak race car underwent
extensive aerodynamic changes to better adapt to the modified road surface
on the race to the clouds, which assumed a smoother tarmac and less gravel
than last year. Thinning air ascending the mountain robs most motors of
their power by 30 or more percent, but the increase in horsepower over last year's
race car helped push the driver forward.
"Devil's Playground": The Jeremy Foley 2012 Pikes Peak Story
RECARO Presents "Devil's Playground." We head to Lewisville, Texas to meet
with the Evolution Dynamics team who drove the infamous Mitsubishi Evo
during this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and had one of the
most horrific crashes that became a YouTube sensation after both drivers
survived and walked away unscathed. Driver Jeremy Foley, co-pilot Yuri
Kouznetsov, and Car Builder Kevin Dubois recap the hill climb and explain
why it's so important to have the right safety equipment.
Precision at Pike's Peak
Watch the dust fly in this white knuckle ride up one of the all time
classic hill climbs at Pikes Peak. There's no margin for error as former
World Rally Champion Ari Vatanen pilots the classic Peugeot 405 T16 up the
winding mountain roads, paying no heed to the sheer drops just inches away.
A rare treat, this classic footage was used by Peugeot in the late 80s but
was never widely distributed. Feel the exhilaration! See more at

Imagine being one of the fastest riders in the 750 class, holeshot the
start and have your bike start detonating the first time you click 6th
gear. Hang on because this is a wild ride for mere mortals to watch. By the
way, the other riders are Davey Durelle and Mickey Dymond who finished
first and second place. And 6th gear means 90-100+ mph!
Jeremy Foley and Mike Ryan Crash at Pike's Peak 2012
Footage from Devil's Playground of Mike Ryan (Semi #7) hitting a guard rail
and Jeremy Foley (Evo #463) going off where Bobby Regester did the year
before. Thankfully, both Jeremy and his co-driver are reported to be ok and
in hospital with only minor injuries. That rollcage did its job and saved
both of the racers lives!

Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak World Record Attempt
On June 27, 2010, Rhys Millen attempted to beat the current "Unlimited
Class" World Record of 10:01.408 at the 88th running of the Pikes Peak
International Hill Climb, the "Race to the Clouds." For 10 years, it has
been Rhys' dream to break the 10-minute barrier and this year he hoped to
capture the elusive record and return it to the Millen name. This is look
at his run and the challenges he faced in his custom built Genesis PM580: a
1,850 pound, 750 horse power V6 designed specifically to conquer the 156
turns of this 12.52 mile course (of which this year, half is pavement) that
begins at 9,390 feet and finishes at the 14,110 foot summit.
