Reactions to the all-new 2012 VW Jetta GLI
Last Thursday, Volkswagen invited fans from VWVortex and Facebook to the Chicago Auto Show Press Days for a prior-to-the-public, sneak peak of the new 2012 VW Jetta GLI. Finally there is empirical proof that moms/teachers/bosses who tell you to stop spending so much time with social media are just dead wrong. These bloggers, car freaks, and super-fans stepped out from behind the computer screen and in front of the camera. And here, in their own words (with a little encouragement from Danielle Gumro) is what they had to say about the 2012 Jetta GLI, its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, red brake calipers and rockin' Fender Premium Sound System.

2012 North American International Auto Show
Volkswagen was in Detroit to debut the Jetta Hybrid and E-Bugster Concept Car at the North American International Auto Show. The 2012 line up was also available for guests to view.
E-Bugster Concept
The E-Bugster concept car was revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The name "E-Bugster" is a combination of "E" for electric, "Bug," the American nickname for the Beetle, and "speedster," which typically describes an open-top two-seater.
Klaus Bischoff and a bunch of car guys in suits
Most of you know Danielle Gumro, Volkswagen Product Specialist, as someone who can answer just about any question regarding a VW thrown at her. But to keep things interesting, we judo-flipped the script and sent her out on the floor of the 2011 North American International Auto show in Detroit armed with nothing more than a microphone to ask automotive insiders their opinion on the launch of the all-new 2012 Passat, and how it will affect the American mid-sized sedan market.
Danielle fought the crowds, and jockeyed for position with hoards of hungry journalists hunting for a tasty sound bite. When the chaos ended, she had a bucketful of behind-the-scene interviews from some heavy hitters in the automotive world. Check out some of the interviews with VW designers, executives, dealers, and automotive journalists here.

The Ultimate "Oprah" Show Fan Gets a 21st Century Beetle
In November 2010, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" teased a silhouette of the 2012 Beetle as part of its final "Ultimate Favorite Things" episode. Then all 275 audience members received the surprise of their lives: a 21st Century Beetle of their own. Much rejoicing ensued.
One ultimate "Oprah" show fan, Justin, was picked to be in the audience that day, but there was a hitch: because Justin was five months shy of his 18th birthday, he wasn't allowed to attend. Even though he was disappointed, Justin wrote to the "Oprah" show producers and said, "Although I was not at the show, I know something bigger and better will happen." Maybe Justin should have said "something bigger and redder."
