Saturn Ion key ignition stuck wont come out (solved) manual overide & troubleshoot
Deactivate Adblock to allow on screen instructions. I added a part 2 ( a better view how to fix it ) click on the following link http://youtu.be/gSXk5LQDflo The problem was on a 2005 saturn ion with automatic transmission. The key refuse to return to OFF position and to come out of ignition slot . Ignition only accept ACC ON START. Watch How to MANUALLY OVERIDE IGNITION SWITCH SOLENOID and troubleshooting, in my case ,lead to the automatic transmission SHIFTER PARK MICROSWITCH, it fails frequently. As I got closer to the microswitch, daylight was running away , my cam focus was acting out the shifter is totally black making it hard to shoot I had to speed up and get it done. WATCH CLOSELY HOW I SLIGHTLY BEND THE MICROSWITCH LEVER TO GIVE IT MORE STRENGHT, i used a needle nose plier . The microswitch is held in place by a removable plastic clip ( it's got a green line painted onto it as you can see on the still image just prior to click on the play icon ) I removed with a small flat tip screwdriver pushing from the Inside out , no need to unclip top shifter panel. So after all this, I went for a test ride, the problem disappeared, yes! it works, so far so good. ( in my case the problem was the microswitch & its lever Inside the consol shifter assembly ). http://youtu.be/gSXk5LQDflo

if your Car/Truck Key won't turn, here is a Quick fix -UNCUT
If your key won't turn or is stuck, no matter how much you wiggle it, turn the steering wheel, or press the brake, then you might want to try this. But use as a last resort, at your own risk. This is pretty common in Jeeps, at first my key wont turn in the ignition, but if I wiggling it a little it will eventually work. I have been doing this for over a year now. Until today, no matter how much I wiggle the key, turn the steering wheel, press the brake, it will not turn. I'm totally locked. So I did some research and found out that it is the lock cylinder that has gone bad and I need to have a local locksmith replace it at a cost of about $120 in parts and $50 in labor. Another option is to tow it to a Jeep dealer and pay over $900 for a entire steering column. OR You can just take a hammer or rubber mallet and hit the end of the key, this will bent the copper latch piece allowing you to start your jeep. some ppl have asked to send me a donation for helping them out, thanks all: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=QJPVE9 UMV8SE4

Cutting White Wire on Saturn Ion to Fix Starting Issue
UPDATE 3/21/2014: My car is still working fine. I still have not had a problem with it starting since I posted this video 5 years ago. Still on the same battery. Thanks for all the comments! This is me showing how I cut the passlock wire on my car. My car would not start on damp, cold mornings, often taking 30 - 40 minutes to get it to start. After reading several forums I found users who were doing this to "fix" the problem. I thought I would tape this for anyone who was thinking of doing the same but doesn't know anything about cars. Like me. :) Note: I owe thanks to meron for the post at this link http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1137a7/83 it is where I first heard about this solution. Update 10.6.2012: I added a switch, I believe it was this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062533 I installed it with it in the off position, started the car, switched it to On while the car was running and the service engine light went away. Car started fine after that. I just shut it off again as it was cold one morning this week and I had trouble getting the car started. Once I got it running, turned it off and haven't had trouble starting it since. YMMV

The key didn't want to turn back into the off position. The oem lock cylinder kinda sounds like a problematic part.

For some reason, the shop replaced the crank sensor. Because is was a no start, they reason it was probably the crank sensor, and of course, it wasn't. They eventually saw the security light on, and figured out that it was a Pass-Lock system issue. They next replaced the Pass-Lock key cylinder, with no luck either. At this time, the shop decided to call me in for assistance. They simply didn't have to scan tool to access the BCM or body module for this problem. When I arrived at the shop, the tech gave me a briefing on the vehicle, and also said that the vehicle would start once in a blue moon. Ok, that was probably some kind of clue. I started my diagnostic by performing a general code analysis. I did get code P1632, or Theft Deterrent Fuel Disable Signal Received from the BCM. There were no other codes present. I knew it wasn't the key cylinder, since it was already replaced. There are steps to take in all Pass Lock diagnostics before condemning a component. In this particular GM, the signal from the ignition system is controlled by a resistor embedded in the Pass Lock module, which is part of the ignition switch cylinder. In these systems, any key that will allow the cylinder to be turned to the on position will work, the only condition that must be met is that the cylinder must be turned to a position where a magnet engages a hall effect switch, which connects the embedded resistor to the system, allowing the Body Control Module to read the signal value, on the yellow Pin A6 wire, and determine if the resistance value is correct. I analyzed the Pass Lock calibration and determined that it was correct. So, why was this car not starting? I started to suspect an electrical or connector fault. So I decided to visually inspect the Pass Lock module and wiring. Everything looked normal, so I then decided to concentrate on the BCM. As I scanned the B C M data stream for clues, I saw that all of a sudden I lost communications. Was the ECM defective? Or, was it an issue with the ...... GM passlock problem
2001 Impala Base 114,xxx miles. Runs & drives perfect, except.... GM replaced BCM computer 9-09. Accomplished nothing. I replaced ignition switch w/NAPA part 10-09-09. Worked great for 2 weeks. Then started having the same ole trouble. I replaced ignition key tumbler switch w/passlock sensor w/NAPA part 10-25-09. No problems until this week 1-13-10. Still doing the same exact thing it was doing before I replaced anything. Hasn't started any day this week. 10 minute wait, etc. will not work. Starts when it wants to. HELP!!! Anyone have any ideas on how to properly repair this chronic problem? ----NOTE----the problem is fixed. Cleaned the contacts on the BCM computer fuse. That's all it took. If your car is exhibiting symptoms exactly like mine did, I'd try that´╗┐ 1st.
