Ford Granada ~ An unloved American Car
The Ford Granada, perhaps one of Ford Motor Company's most successful
failures. They sold thousands of these cars, and everybody hated or made
fun of them. Our current occupant in the White House owned one, and drove
his to be wife, and first lady on a date in one with rusted out floor
boards. The Hearsedriver had one as well, ....yes, I did like the car or I
would never have bought it. Sit back and take a fond look back at the
Granada, did you know somebody who own one?
78 Ford Granada 302 4-Speed
A short video of my Granada I got together again. It has a Mexican 302
bored .030 over with k-code main bearing caps and lots of goodies. It is
currently backed by a Top-Loader and a 9 inch with 4.11 gears and a
Ford Granada 2.9 v6 burnout
Chaam 'tire burning contest'.
Milo's Ford Granada 2.9 v6, AKA 'the Spollmeister' goes as first, burning a
tire till it pops.
Unfortunately this was the last run for the worn 2.9, it runs hot and 2
days after the car needed an engine swap.
Bandenstoken 'Chaam cross'
Two at the Top (Ford Granada launch film) - 1971
When Ford chose to replace the enormous Mk IV Zodiac and Zephyr range, they
took a massive leap forwards with the new Granada and its cheaper brother,
the Consul. Smaller than its forebear, it was lighter, faster, and smarter. This is a shortened
version of the launch film for both cars, and shows how high Ford were
aiming with this car in terms of the cars it was competing with.
1978 Ford Granada First startup after sitting
Starting my 1978 Granada after sitting for 2 years. It has a ford explorer
5.0L roller motor with EEC-V EFI and DIS. The Explorer computer doesn't
like the FMS E-303 cam. Car also now has a built C-4 trans.
78 Dodge Diplomat vs Ford Granada Ghia & Olds CutlassTom Kite featured
78 model year. This basic car stayed in production until 1989. Diplomats
were used extensively as Police Cars and Taxi Cabs after 1981 when the
Aspen and St Regis were removed from the Dodge Line Up. It proved to be a
very successful car for Dodge. Diplomats were based off the Dodge Aspen.
They share much in styling. Even the doors of the car were the same.
Diplomats phased out the stylish two door and wagon in the early eighties.
Wink Martindale is the voice over for this video.
