Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S) review - CarBuyer

Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/toyota/gt-86/coupe/review The Toyota GT86 has been charged with injecting a little excitement into the Japanese brand's dull and dependable image. Developed in partnership with Subaru, the rear-wheel drive coupe promises to mix driving fun with great value for money. The GT 86 is priced at around £25,000, and is aimed squarely at entry-level versions of the evergreen Audi TT. While the Toyota isn't as attractive as the sleek Audi or muscular Nissan 370Z, it still has the ability to turn heads. And what the interior lacks in quality and cutting edge design, it more than makes up for with generous standard kit. But the GT86 is car that demands to be driven rather than looked at. Sharp and engaging handling, a characterful 2.0-litre flat four petrol engine and strong brakes help make the Toyota a number one choice for back road blasts. Subaru BRZ coupe review - CarBuyer
Full review: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/subaru/brz/coupe/review The Subaru BRZ is one of the best sports cars to go on sale in recent years. It's a rear-wheel drive coupe that doesn't cost the earth to buy and puts the driver at the centre of the action. It is the product of a joint venture with Toyota that has also produced the GT86 -- and both cars are good looking, brilliant fun to drive and surprisingly economical. In many ways the BRZ sits in a sector of the market that used to be dominated in the Eighties by affordable coupes like the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri. These days, rivals include the rear-wheel drive Nissan 370Z and front-drive coupes like the Volkswagen Scirocco and Audi TT. Ferrari FF review - CarBuyer
To celebrate CarBuyer's two years on YouTube, I thought I'd have a break from the superminis and give you a review of something really exciting. Hope you enjoy watching the review as much as I had filming it - Mat;-) Full reviewt: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/ferrari/ff/coupe/review The FF is a radical departure for Ferrari, as it's the first four-wheel-drive car that the Italian manufacturer has ever produced. It's powered by a 6.3-litre V12 engine and is capable of speeds over 200mph. The distinctive bodywork was designed by Pininfarina, and the FF offers levels of comfort and space which have never previously been seen in a Ferrari.

Chevrolet Camaro Convertible - CarBuyer
For the money there are few drop tops that come close to the performance and head-turning capability of the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. With a 6.2-litre V8 derived from a Corvette it has more than 400bhp meaning a sub six second 0-62mph sprint time and looks that are 100 per cent American muscle car. Thankfully, unlike muscle cars of old it can go round corners without falling over.

Porsche 911 (991) review - CarBuyer
Read the full review here: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/porsche/911/coupe/review One of the longest running sports cars in existence, the latest Porsche 911- code-named the 991, will go on sale in the UK from December 2011. Featuring a lower roof, more bulbous headlights and sharper tail-lights the front track is also wider, improving handling. The engines have received several tweaks too. The standard Carrera's 3.6-litre flat six cylinder engine is replaced by a smaller 3.4 that is more efficient but produces more power, at 345bhp. The 3.8-litre found in the Carrera S now produces 394bhp. Performance when fitted with the PDK twin-clutch gearbox and optional Sport Chrono Pack is very impressive. The standard Carrera sprints from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds whilst the Carrera S can nail the benchmark in just 4.1 seconds. The interior has received a major makeover that is inspired by the Panamera, but with fewer switches. Most owners will opt for the PDK gearbox but Porsche also offer a seven-speed manual option - the first of it's kind in a production car.

top gear jeremy clarkson's Car of the Year Toyota GT86
top gear jeremy clarkson's Car of the Year Toyota GT86 You thought Jeremy would immediately pick the most expensive or most powerful car here, didn't you? Well, he didn't... he picked one of the cheapest and least powerful. But he had his reasons. The Toyota GT86 is a new way of looking at an old problem: how to have fun in a reasonably priced car. Now, TG has a long association with cheap thrills, but the GT86 tries very hard to re-educate a generation of hot-hatch motorists on the joys of rear-wheel drive. And it succeeds, by being exciting, relatively cheap and accessible to mere mortals. It's good, people. Be excited."I like the GT86 because it's come barrelling into the bottom end of the marketplace with a big dirty smile on its face and a suggestion in the way it stands that it wants to have fun with your middle parts. It's a car designed for one thing only: fun."

King of Drift: Keiichi Tsuchiya drives the Toyota GT86
With the launch of the Toyota GT86 well under way, we've discovered a brand new sport that will give us the chance to race our new GT86 against the clock. Called Drift Sprint, we developed the challenge with the help of "Drift King" Keiichi Tsuchiya, who joined us earlier this year to approve the course. Our track has also been fine tuned with help from Autocar's Steve Sutcliffe and Top Gear Magazine's Ollie Marriage -- both highly capable drivers. As our video shows, the idea is simple. Racing against clock, a combination of car control and raw speed is needed to complete the course as quickly as possible. For a 'behind the scenes' look at this video, read our recent post on the Official Toyota Blog: http://blog.toyota.co.uk/behind-the-scenes-with-drift-king-keiichi-tsuchiya-and-the-toyota-gt86.

BRZ stands for "Boxer, Rear-wheel drive, Zenith," or "Boxer Renaissance Zenith." The Toyota 86 is a sports car developed jointly by Japanese automobile manufacturers Toyota and Subaru. It has 2+2 seats, a 2-door coupé body style and a front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. The model will be sold under three different brands: Toyota (Toyota 86 in Japan and Australia[1] and Toyota GT-86 in Europe), Subaru (Subaru BRZ) and Scion (Scion FR-S). "86" (pronounced "eight-six" or Hachi-Roku (ハチロク)) refers to the Toyota Corolla Levin series AE86 and the Toyota Sprinter Trueno series AE86, a particular series of cars sold between 1983 and 1987 (The Trueno was a hatchback, and the Levin had a trunk ). As such, the Toyota 86 has been named as the spiritual successor of the original AE86 during the press release of the 86. The signifigance of the reference to the series AE86 was that both the Trueno and Levin of this series were the last with rear wheel drive; the following Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin series AE92 were released with front wheel drive thereafter. The Toyota and Scion have little distinguishing elements - the latter has cheaper pieces to reduce base price in the United States. The Subaru BRZ differs mainly in its front end, where the grille has an hexagonal shape versus an inverted trapezoid in the Toyota and Scion, along with the placement of the BRZ as the most luxurious variant of the platform, with more standard features and a higher suggested price than the Toyota-marketed versions.[citation needed] In Japan, it will be exclusive to Toyota Japan dealerships called Netz Store locations, which uses the same sales approach used at North American sales channel called Scion. It was first presented as a concept car at the October 2009 Tokyo Motor Show under the name Toyota FT-86, FT being shorthand for "Future Toyota". Later, a high-performance version was launched at the January 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon as the Toyota FT-86 G Sports. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, a third concept car was shown, the Toyota FT-86 II. The BRZ and FR-S also had their concept cars, the Subaru BRZ Concept STI and the Scion FR-S Concept. The production version of the 86, BRZ and FR-S were unveiled at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. Initially, the 86 and sister models will feature a Subaru-sourced naturally aspirated 2.0 L flat-4 boxer gasoline engine (Toyota engine code 4U-GSE, Subaru engine code FA20) that will deliver 200 PS (147 kW; 197 hp) that includes a direct injection system from Toyota. The model will be offered with two six-speed transmissions: a manual and an automatic with paddle shifters. The weight of the 86 is 1,180 to 1,250 kilograms (2,600 to 2,760 lb) depending on specification and equipment. New Mercedes A-Class review - CarBuyer
Read the full review here: http://www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/mercedes/a_class/hatchback/review Hi. I know lots of you have asked for a review of the new Mercedes A-Class so we thought we'd do a special extended video - it's over nine minutes! Hope you like it. We will return to the usual length videos for our next review. Until now, Mercedes hasn't offered a rival to premium hatchbacks like the BMW 1 Series, Audi A3 or VW Golf. The handsome new A-Class changes that, aiming to attract younger buyers to the brand. Featuring a much lower roofline and detailed creases on its side, the car looks much sportier. It's available with a range of engines, including a diesel that emits less than 100g/km -- the first Mercedes to do so. A hot 208bhp 2.0-litre turbo A250 is also planned. Prices are competitive with the car's A3 and 1 Series rivals.

2013 Scion FR-S
http://drivencarreviews.com/ Scion has done "sporty" cars before, now they have done a true sports car. The 2013 FR-S has the potential to become an instant classic. Tom Voelk attends the press launch in Las Vegas, NV and spends a little quality time with this 2+2 on the track at Spring Mountain Raceway.
