Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham Video 85 Olds Coupe Eighty Eight Video Review
Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham 85 Olds Coupe 5.0L 305 Eighty Eight Start Up & Test Drive Video Review http://www.1OwnerCarGuy.com This 85 Olds 88 is the top of the line model. It is a Royale Brougham so it has all the options. This car I believe is a 1 maybe 2 owner that only has 94K Original Miles on it. It has the 5.0L 305 V8 that runs great. Everything on this car feels tight. The exterior is just beautiful. The light metallic blue paint is all original and in very good condition with a nice shine to it. The body is straight as can be. It has the quarter vogue top that is just as nice as it gets. The car has a lot of chrome on it and is all just shines int he sun. I just love the factory wire wheels on this car. The interior is just clean as can be. The seats show almost no wear and look amazing. This car is fully loaded with all the options and everything works on this car. You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner one. Styling highlights included new grille inserts and red and amber taillights replacing the red lenses. At mid-year, a new Royale Brougham LS was added to the 88 line almost simultaneous to the introduction of a new and downsized 1985 front-wheel drive Ninety-Eight. With the Ninety-Eight being downsized and converted to front-drive, the Royale Brougham LS model of the 88 was now the largest and most luxurious rear-wheel drive car offered by Oldsmobile. Custom Cruiser wagons continued with the same styling changes found on other 88 models. Only minor changes marked the 1985 model, which was in its last year before a major downsizing and conversion to front-wheel-drive. The same assortment of models in the Royale, Brougham and Brougham LS continued as before. The '85 88s would be the last full-sized Oldsmobile sedans and coupes to feature rear-wheel-drive, Rocket V8 power, and body-on-frame construction. Though the 88 sedans and coupes were downsized and switched to front-drive for 1986, the Custom Cruiser station wagons would continue virtually unchanged through the 1990 model year and eventually become the only Oldsmobile models powered by an Oldsmobile Rocket V8 engine, for which production ended in 1990 after 42 years. An upscale Cutlass Calais model was added, differing from the Cutlass Supreme only in minor trim details. The new notchback Cutlass Supreme proved to be far more popular than the controversial fastback Cutlass Salon coupe and sedan introduced at the same time.. Both the Cutlass Supreme and Calais were optioned with T-tops and/or a factory sunroof, even on the base Cutlass Supreme coupe with the factory radio delete option. From 1978 through 1980, a high-performance 442 model was available, and for 1979, a special-edition performance model, the Hurst/Olds was offered. These used the Supreme's notchback body, rather than the standard fastback coupe's. Around 2,499 Hurst/Olds were produced - all were powered with an Oldsmobile 5.7L (350 cubic-inch) Rocket V8 (not the diesel engine) sourced from the full-size Delta 88 and Ninety Eight Regency. Also included in the Hurst/Olds package was the Hurst Dual/Gate shifter for the three-speed turbo Hydra-matic transmission.. This was also the first year GM introduced the OBD-I computer controlled engine management and emission control system. The 442 option moved from the aeroback Cutlass Salon coupe body to the notchback Cutlass Calais for 1980, with content upgraded from a mere "appearance and handling" package back to a legitimate performance option with content similar to the 1979 Hurst/Olds including its 350 Rocket V8. This would be the last 442 until that model was revived in 1985, again on the Cutlass notchback body, as a successor to the 1983-84 Hurst/Olds. In 1981, the Cutlass Supreme coupe received an aerodynamic restyle (with a "shovel-nose" front header panel), which, along with a higher rear deck, decreased air resistance by 15%.[2] It would continue with this basic design until the final rear-drive Cutlass was produced in 1988. A 4-door sedan was added to the Supreme lineup, with a new front end and a slight taillight lens restyle (resembling a touch-tone dial or Rubik's Cube - this lens style was used until 1984). It was this restyled body that (along with the Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, and Pontiac Gran Prix) ushered in the down-sized cars into NASCAR cup competition. While the Cutlass looked almost identical to the Buick Regal (which scored 35+ victories in the 1981 thru 1985 seasons), the Cutlass (like the Dodge Mirada) didn't take one checkered flag, and many teams moved away from it in 1983 to the Regal, Grand Prix, and restyled Monte Carlo SS. This was a rude awakening to Oldsmobile, which was getting used to wins on the NASCAR circuit. The Cutlass Supreme parted mechanical company with the rest of the Cutlass line in 1982, when continuing high sales convinced GM to continue production of its rear wheel drive mid-size cars alongside the new V6-powered, front-wheel drive A-body, known as the Cutlass Ciera. The rear-wheel drive sedan and Cutlass Cruiser wagon became part of the Cutlass Supreme line in 1982. The wagon was dropped for 1984 as a new Cutlass Ciera-based model was introduced. The Hurst/Olds reappeared on the Cutlass Calais coupe for two years, first in 1983 as the black over silver 15th anniversary, and then as the silver over black 1984 model. Both featured chrome wheels, red striping and a high output Oldsmobile 307 V8 with 4 barrel carburetor, dual muffler Exhausts and Hurst's then new three stick Lightning Rods shifter (the latter eventually becoming a magnet for thieves.) All Hurst/Olds were automatics.

1955 Oldsmobile Super 88 324 Rocket V8 55,xxx Original Miles
I thought you'd like a look at this very slick 1955 Olds Super 88 two door hardtop. It's still powered by the the original 324 Cubic inch Olds Rocket V8 and is only showing 55,xxx miles on the odometer. It really looks excellent in that two-tone paint and they've redone the interior as well. This definitely is a nicely preserved example of a 50's classic. I hope you find it interesting...thanks for watching! Filmed at Country Classic Cars in Staunton, IL The background music track is Whiskey on the Mississippi by Kevin MacLeod. For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/77k7gv6 With many Tri-Five Chevys attracting seriously high prices that drive more modest buyers away, cars like this 1955 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday hardtop coupe are heating up, and fast. For years cars like this have lived in the shadows of their Chevrolet cousins, but recent activity in the market has made cars like this far more popular and attractive. After all, it's bigger, more powerful, and full of luxury options you just couldn't get on your Chevrolet. And even though this one is wearing a fresh, 0-mile restoration, it's bargain priced.

132198 / 1957 Oldsmobile: Golden Rocket 88
For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/blcwa26 Don't be fooled by the large-by-huge chrome wheels it's wearing today, this particular '57 Golden Rocket 88 is an authentic J2 car, and is extensively and thoroughly restored to original condition from top to bottom. Our documents suggest that this is one of only four Golden Rocket 88 2-door sedans in existence with the J2 engine. The two-tone bodywork on this car is spectacularly done and looks especially striking in black and white with a red stripe in the chrome trim that separates the two halves. Bodywork is beautiful, with straight panels and excellent fit throughout, evidenced by the miles-deep reflections in the paint. The real story on this Olds is the J2 371 cubic inch engine under the hood. Fully rebuilt during the restoration, it runs like new and the passing of years has proven that these are some extremely durable engines. Detailing is first-rate too, from the 'Oldsmobile J2 Rocket" decals on the valve covers, to the correct 2-barrel carburetors, to the original power steering system that's fully functional. You'll note that this engine sports a trio of shorty air cleaners on the carbs, but the original dual oil-bath air cleaner is also included. The engine is backed by a 3-speed Hydramatic transmission, and drives the original rear end. Brakes were rebuilt to stock specifications, as was the suspension, although the car was given a subtle, aggressive look by tweaking the spring height slightly. The car wears a set of chrome Billet Specialties wheels, but the original 15-inch steel wheels and plain hubcaps are included. From the tri-tone seats with patented GM comfort weave cushions, to the positively breathtaking instrument cluster, this interior is new. The original radio has been upgraded to include an iPod interface. The trunk is sporting a custom carpet, but an original trunk mat is included. This Olds is fast, comfortable, luxurious, and about 2/3 the cost of a comparable Chevy. There are no irreversible modifications, and this car could be put back to 100% stock condition in an afternoon.
