Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer, walks us around the 7th generation Corvette to show us the perfect balance of technology, design and performance that makes it worthy of the iconic Stingray designation. To learn more about the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray, visit http://www.corvettestingray2014.com According to Motor Trend, GM executives have been planning the next-generation (C7) Corvette since 2007. The car was originally planned for the 2011 model year, but was delayed, and currently expected to arrive in fall 2013 as a 2014 model year.[54] Mid-engine and rear-engine layouts had been considered, but the front-engine, rear-wheel drive (RWD) platform will continue to keep costs lower and the engine compact.[55] The Corvette C7 will come equipped with Chevrolet's upcoming Gen V small block V8 that features a number of technical advancements including an aluminum block and heads and a revised combustion system. The engine will retain the pushrod, overhead valve design configuration. The new 5.5 L V8 made its world debut in the C6.R racecar. Power will likely total 440 hp (328 kW), an improvement over the 436 horsepower available currently in the Corvette C6, but with improved fuel economy due to the new engine's smaller size and advanced features. The engine is part of a new $890 million program committed for vehicles across the GM lineup.[dead link][56] A twin-turbo V6 engine may or may not be available as an option.[54] Car and Driver said in April 2011, "We anticipate change in the C7 will be apparent at a glance, even to casual observers ... it seems certain the coupe will feature a split rear window -- a la the one-year Sting Ray coupe of 1963. In this case it will be an optional feature."[57] An interior makeover is also expected with upgraded materials with seats comparing favorably with the buckets found in Porsches and BMWs. The front-engine Y platform will be essentially unchanged from the C6 with an improvement expected in steering linearity and feel. The Z06 and ZR1 will continue, while the Grand Sport may become the base model. The C7 should hit dealerships in fall of 2013.[57] On October 18,2012, GM has made an official news announcement and confirmed that the seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette will debut on Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2013, in Detroit. Chevrolet also showed the new Crossed Flags logo for the new 2014 Corvette. Over the years the Corvette has won awards from automobile publications as well as organizations such as the Society of Automotive Engineers. Automobile Magazine ranked the 1963--1967 Sting Ray first on their "100 Coolest Cars" list, above the Dodge Viper GTS, the Porsche 911, and others.[58] Sports Car International placed the Corvette at number 5 on their list of the "Top Sports Cars of the 1960s". Hot Rod magazine in its March 1986 issue selected the 1973--74 Corvette LS6 454 as one of the "10 most collectable muscle cars" in the company of the 1968--70 Chevelle, 1970 'Cuda, 1970 Challenger, 1966--67 Fairlane, 1968--70 AMX, 1970 Camaro Z28, 1968--70 GTO, 1968--69 Charger, and 1967--68 Mustang.[59] Car and Driver readers selected the Corvette "Best all around car" nine out of eleven years in Car and Driver's Reader's Choice Polls including 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975. Car and Driver magazine selected the Corvette for its annual Ten Best list fifteen times: the C4 from 1985 through 1989, the C5 in 1998, 1999, and 2002 through 2004, and the C6 from 2005 through 2009. Motor Trend magazine named the Corvette Car of the Year in 1984 and 1998. Society of Automotive Engineers publication Automotive Engineering International selected the 1999 Corvette Convertible, (along with the Mercedes-Benz S500) "Best Engineered Car of the 20th century".[60] The 2005 Corvette was nominated for the North American Car of the Year award and was named "Most Coveted Vehicle" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year contest. U.S. News & World Report[61] selected the 2010 Corvette the "Best Luxury Sports Car for the Money". A Corvette Stingray Anniversary concept car was unveiled at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, fifty years after the Sting Ray racer-concept of 1959.[66] The vehicle was based on a combination of the 1963 Sting Ray and the 1968 Stingray. The new Stingray concept appears in the 2009 movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, as the vehicle mode of the character Sideswipe.[67] A convertible/speedster version was used for the same character in the 2011 sequel, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

2013 Acura NSX 2014 New HD Honda NSX Concept On Track Interior Commercial Carjam TV HD

Weight is kept down through the use of a high-tech platform made from lightweight materials. Power comes from a V6 (a 90 * design actually derived from the former V10 but with a lot of new technologies added and downsized) mounted behind the two occupants that sends its power to the rear wheels and is augmented by an electric motor. Acura's SH-AWD incorporates one electric motor in a dual-clutch transmission, forming a hybrid setup. Additionally, two more motors can instantly send negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering for improved handling and efficiency. Acura claims the new all-wheel-drive system will provide super car acceleration while offering better efficiency. Acura did not disclose how much horsepower its V6 engine and three electric motors will produce. The production NSX is not expected to be produced until at least 2015 and will be built at the Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio. An advertisement for the vehicle began airing in early February 2012, featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno. Honda plans to develop a GTE racing version of the NSX to run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 2015 onward. It is unknown if it will be a factory effort or if it will be run as a customer program, but Honda expects to race it in America - likely the American Le Mans Series. In December 2007, American Honda CEO, Tetsuo Iwamura, confirmed a new supercar powered by a V10 engine would make its introduction to the market by 2010.[21] The new sports car would be based on the Acura ASCC (Advanced Sports Car Concept) introduced at the 2007 North American International Auto Show.[22] With Honda CEO Takeo Fukui challenging the developers to make the vehicle faster than its rivals,[23] prototypes of the vehicle were seen testing on the Nürburgring in June 2008.[24] On 17 December 2008, Fukui announced during a speech about Honda's revised financial forecast that, due to poor economic conditions, all plans for a next-generation NSX had been cancelled.[25] In March 2010, the Acura NSX project changed name to Honda HSV-010 GT and was entered in the Japanese SuperGT Championship. The HSV-010 GT is powered by a 3.4-liter V8 sending somewhere in excess of 500 hp (373 kW) through the sequential manual gearbox from Ricardo.[citation needed] In April 2011, Automotive News reported that Honda is developing a new sports car to be a successor to the NSX.[26] It reports that Honda CEO Ito said the car would be exhilarating to drive but also environmentally friendly. It is expected the vehicle will incorporate an electric drivetrain to give the gasoline engine a Boost.[27] Back in late 2010, Motor Trend reported that Honda was looking into a mid-engine hybrid sports car, to be an NSX successor.[28] In September 2011, during filming of The Avengers, Robert Downey, Jr. (playing the role of Iron Man) was spotted in an exotic sportscar based on the new NSX by Acura, made specifically for the film,[29] rather than the Audi R8 he previously drove in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. The Honda NSX (sold as the Acura NSX in North America and Hong Kong) is a sports car that was originally produced between 1990 and 2005 by Japanese automaker Honda. It was equipped with a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, powered by an all-aluminium V6 gasoline (petrol) engine featuring Honda's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system. A long-rumored second generation NSX debuted as a concept car in 2012, equipped with a V6 hybrid powertrain, and is scheduled to enter into production by 2015. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_NSX#2012_Acura_NSX_Concept

Press Conference speech by Bentley CEO Dr Wolfgang Schreiber announces Bentley's sales performance in 2012. Bentley announced on 20 June 2012 that it would produce the Continental GT Speed, its fastest ever vehicle with a top speed of 330 kilometres per hour (205 mph). The model was introduced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 28, 2012.[12] The engine is a twin-turbo 6.0 liter W12 that generates 616 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The ride height is lowered and chassis and suspension uprated. Bentley released details of a more powerful GT. Power is increased to 600 metric horsepower (441 kW; 592 bhp), with a top speed of 325 kilometres per hour (201.9 mph) and a 0-60 mph time of 4.3 seconds. The GT Speed can accelerate to 200 km/h (124 mph) from 0 in 12.8. The Continental's weight is also reduced by 35 kg (77 lb). Minor exterior changes include a tinted front grille and larger Exhaust tailpipes. The price for this model is £137,000. The Continental GT Speed is the first production Bentley officially capable of reaching 326 km/h (202.6 mph), despite the fact the car weighs over 2,400 kilograms (5,291 lb). The Bentley Continental GT is a two-door 'two plus two' grand touring coupé released in 2003, replacing the previous Rolls-Royce-based Continental R and T. A revised Continental GT was introduced in 2011. As a cheaper alternative to the existing (but updated) W12 engine, the new model can have a twin-turbo 4-litre V8 engine (developed jointly with Audi).[10] The 3993cc V8 produces 500 hp (373 kW) and 487 lb·ft (660 N·m). Cylinder deactivation technology effectively turns the V8 into a V4 to improve fuel economy by 8%. Other changes, including on-demand steering assistance, weight reduction, better engine heat management, overrun alternator charging and eco-tyres, improve overall fuel consumption by 40% from the W12's 17.1mpg to the V8's 26.1mpg The engine is a twin-turbo 6.0 liter W12 that generates 616 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The ride height is lowered and chassis and suspension uprated. The convertible version of the Continental GT, the Continental GTC,[3] was first presented in September 2005, and was introduced to several world markets in the autumn of 2006. With the second generation Azure, it is the second Bentley convertible released in 2005. The roof is produced by Karmann in Osnabrück, Germany. The GTC uses identical powertrain detail as the GT, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour (0 to 62.1 mph) in 5.1 seconds.[2] With the roof up, it will reach a top speed of 314 kilometres per hour (195.1 mph), and with the roof down 305 kilometres per hour (189.5 mph). US model has MSRP of approximately $270,000, with early vehicles not having E85 capability, which would be available in summer of 2010 for US market.[7] In April 2010, Bentley announced a convertible version of the Continental Supersports. Pricing starts at $280,400, and went on sale in the Summer of 2010. The convertible gets the same engine as the coupe, but will receive a revised version of the ZF 6HP26 transmission with "Quickshift," cutting shift times by 50% and enabling double downshifts. The convertible also gets new, lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels that are 22 lb (10.0 kg) lighter than the standard wheel. In February 2011, Bentley succeeded in breaking their own land-ice speed record previously set by the Continental GT. They managed to bring a slightly modified Supersports Convertible to 205.48 MPH in Finland, verified by the Guinness World Records. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentley_Continental_GT

2014 C7 Corvette Stingray Sells For $1.1 Million At Barrett-Jackson 2013
The first C7 Corvette sells for $1.1 Million to Rick Hendrick at Barrett-Jackson 2013 in Scottsdale, AZ. All proceeds from the sale went to charity.

2014 Corvette C7 : Walkaround : Tadge Juechter Chevrolet Chief Engineer
http://MPGomatic.com takes you on a walkaround of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with Tadge Juechter at the New York City premiere event. Tadge is the Chief Engineer/Vehicle Line Director - Corvette at General Motors. The Corvette first premiered in New York at the GM Motorama Show sixty years ago. This historic event featured pristine representatives of each of the previous six generations of the Corvette, including the very same car that was shown in NYC decades ago. The C7 Corvette Stingray was first shown at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, just prior to this event. The red 2014 Corvette shown in this video was shipped to Scottsdale, Arizona immediately after this event to be auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson auction. It sold for $1.1 Million to Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. Parts of the audio in this video are a tad noisy. There were photographers and journalists crawling all over the car while we were shooting. Why they couldn't make the tiny effort to close the driver's door and stop all that dinging is anybody's guess. Keep your ears out as one guy SLAMS the door on this $1.1 million dollar pre-production car. Shooting this video was one of the coolest little opportunities that's come my way in this MPGomatic adventure. Many thanks to General Motors for the invitation, to Tadge for his time, and to you for watching. Having the opportunity to create videos with top automotive engineers and race car drivers just might be the best part of this gig. This piece was shot (handheld, for the most part) with a Canon XH A1s, using a Rode directional mic.
