For more information on this vehicle visit http://tinyurl.com/cre5kzu With only 12,720 summer time miles, this 1986 Mustang SVO is absolutely one of the finest specialty Mustangs on the planet. Averaging only 509 miles per year since it drove off Ed Mullinax Ford's showroom floor in October of 1986 the car has been treated as if its Metallic Silver body panels were made of glass. The glossy silver finish you see here is the cars original paint, and thanks to an accident free 25 year existence this Mustang still presents factory correct gaps and panel alignment. At the front of the car, you'll find SVOs unique front clip which houses 1986 exclusive aero shaped headlights. Behind that front clip, a functional hood scoop feeds cool air to the turbo charged engine and all original glass still displays correct factory tint. At the sides of the car, traditional overwrought 80s body molding was exchanged for crisp, clean lines that are highlighted by humble SVO front fender badges, small rear wheel spats and unique body matched quarter window trim. At the back of the car, a 'bi-plane' rear spoiler sits above a unique rear bumper cover and striped taillights which let the competition know that this isn't an everyday Mustang GT. With the death of the V8 being yelled from roof tops across the country, SVO engineers opted to pass over Fords storied 302 in lieu of a turbocharged version of Ford's 2.3 liter inline four cylinder. The SVOs 2.3 liter SOHC I4 utilized a durable cast iron block, bulletproof cast iron heads and a new for 1986 water cooling system to produce a stout 8 to 1 compression ratio. The engine was further endowed with an advanced, computer controlled Bosch electronic fuel injection system and an intercooled Garrett T3 turbocharger which resulted in 205 horsepower and 240 lb./ft. of torque. That resulted in a quick for 1986 and brisk for today 6.7 second 0-60 time and a very impressive 140 MPH top speed. In addition to the advanced engine, SVO included several key suspension and drivetrain modifications to help increase this cars performance. Inside the cars unitary steel chassis, a standard Borg Warner T5 5-speed manual transmission benefits from revised gearing and sends power to a Traction-Lok Posi-traction rear end with tall 3.73 gears. Around that drivetrain, a complete Koni suspension system replaces already competent Mustang GT hardware to create a car that is as good in the turns as it is on the straightaway. At the front of the car, modified suspension geometry combines with Koni telescopic gas pressurized shocks, a heavy duty anti roll bar and a 15:1 quick ratio power steering system to make turn in a cinch. Out back, the cars solid rear axle was fitted with quad Koni gas pressurized shocks, recalibrated coils, and a heavy duty anti roll bar to ensure the powerful motor and tall gears bite like a snake. At the corners, new ventilated four wheel disc brakes that include 11 inch front and 11.25 inch rear rotors sit behind five lug 16 inch aluminum wheels that wear 225/50/ z-rated BF Goodrich G-Force radials. Inside this Mustang, the all original SVO interior features many luxury options that weren't normally found on small American coupes. The multi-adjustable Lear sport seats with hand pump operated lumbar supports feel firm and look great. An SVO specific leather wrapped tilt steering wheel complements a leather wrapped shift lever and emergency brake handle. On the euro inspired SVO specific door panels you'll find controls for the cars power windows and power door locks. In front of the driver, a straight European looking dash houses both an 8,000 RPM tachometer and Boost gauge next to controls for the cars standard air conditioning. Below the dash, a pristine console holds a Hurst short throw shifter just behind a premium audio system and a trick 'fuel grade' switch that allows the driver to adjust the cars performance based on the octane rating of his fuel. Below the steering wheel specially designed pedals that allow easy heel and toe shifting hang above well-maintained carpet, and above the seats a tight and crisp headliner shows no wear at all. With its low mileage and 100% original equipment, this clean Mustang SVO would be right at home in any serious Mustang collection!
