Clarkson gets to drive the XJ220S, a lighter, more powerful and more sporting version of the XJ220 (hardly a slouch). Gets to 100mph in second gear. If you have seen EVO driving the XJ220 around the Nurburgring, you can only imagine just how fast the XJ220S is - one of the fastest cars in the world (probably).
XJ220C DRIVEN AT SPEED BY ALAIN DE CADENET
Clip from the superb video, Jaguar - Victory By Design, covering the XJ220 racer (the XJ220 C-type). Superb footage as Alain de Cadenet canes a standard car and the racer around the track. DVD is recommended viewing and covers the major racing Jaguar sports-cars from the first to the last.
XJ220 GT WIN AT LE MANS, 1993, COULTHARD, BRABHAM, NIELSEN
Footage from the 1993 Le Mans 24 hours, focusing on the Jaguar XJ220 entry. Jaguar won the GT class with car number 50, driven by David Coulthard, David Brabham and John Nielsen. Footage includes racing action and interviews with the drivers and pit-crew as the 24 hours unfolds.
As (bad) luck would have it, Jaguar committed a procedural error relating to the use of catalytic converters and were actually disqualified months after the event.
Maserati 450S
The magnificent, powerful, gorgeous Maserati 450s presented by Alain De Cadenet in the serie "Victory by design" on Speed.
A thousand thanks and more to Cooky, Citytea, Mental Gear and Gyro Revolt for bringing this marvel to the great game GT Legends by Simbin.
Jay Leno Reviews Jaguar C-X75
Jay Leno became the first person outside Jaguar to drive the C-X75 on a public highway, ahead of its North American Debut at the L.A. Auto Show. Leno, a long-term Jaguar enthusiast, thinks that despite being so cutting edge, it still looks like a Jaguar with certain key features like the detail on the buttress behind the driver's head that is reminiscent of the new XJ or the back end is having hints of E Type and even the D Type. If the car is produced, it will be powered by twin turbines charging four electric motors.
XJR 15 MONACO F1 RACE, MURRAY WALKER COMMENTATES, 1991
In 1991, 16 wealthy privateers entered their £500,000 Jaguar XJR-15s in a 3 race F1-support series called the Jaguar Intercontinental Challenge.
With a $1M 'winner takes all' prize, driving was highly competitive and the series was a highlight of the F1 calendar. Most of the drivers were professionals (Warwick, Brabham, Euser, Wolleck, Needell, Fangio, Hahne etc) but Matt Aitken, the music producer, was also an owner-driver. This footage, commentated by Murray Walker, is highlights from Monaco.
5 JAGUAR XJ220s and an XJR-15 (widescreen)
Five XJ220s and an XJR-15 take a run from Sussex and Surrey up to Silverstone. You don't often see one of these on the road, so this convoy stopped a lot of traffic. They even let us drive, very slowly indeed, around the track.
Old Top Gear , (XJR8 TEST etc), 1/2, 1997.
Top Episode from late 1997. It features a test on the then new Jaguar XJR8 by Jeremy Clarkson plus a report on fake suspension arms being fitted to some Vauxhall cars.
