New 2013 Ford Explorer Sport "Driving Scenes"
The 2013 Explorer Sport will be the only Explorer offered with Ford's twin-turbocharged, EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6. Ford says the engine will make at least 350 horsepower in Explorer Sport trim, but so far hasn't provided specific output figures. In the 2013 Flex, the engine is good for 355 hp at 5700 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque from 1500 through 5250 rpm; in the 2013 Taurus SHO, the horsepower figure rises to 365 hp @ 5500 rpm. Like most models boasting the EcoBoost V-6, the Explorer Sport is available only with all-wheel-drive. A six-speed automatic is the only transmission (it also gets paddle shifters), and Ford has engineered the Explorer's final drive gearing to the 3.16:1 ratio normally used on front-drive models. Explorer Sport models also allegedly receive a faster power steering ratio, larger disc brakes, and other body reinforcements designed to further improve handling. Of course, especially with any EcoBoost-powered model, Ford loves to talk fuel economy figures. The automaker expects the 2013 Explorer Sport to attain an EPA rating of 16/22 mpg (city/highway). That's a 1-mpg drop compared to an all-wheel-drive Explorer fitted with the normally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6, but that's 3 mpg city and 2 mpg highway better than the comparable, Hemi-powered Dodge Durango R/T AWD, which is rated at 13/20 mpg.

2013 Ford Explorer Sport
This is a new trim level of the Ford Explorer sold as a 2013. The difference is, bigger dark rims , smoked out L.E.D tail lights and grill, and a bump up in horse power. This SUV looks very good in person especially in the metallic dark grey paint coat. It is basically the current Explorer with a " Body Kit " added to it.

More than just a "sport" badge, Ford's new Explorer with the 3.5 EcoBoost delivers some driving enjoyment from behind the wheel with not much fuel penalty from the base 3.5 V6. Our only complaints are a tight 3rd row and a hefty price tag, making it one of the most expensive in the class. If you can swing the cost, you will feel as if you are driving the most premium feeling family crossover in the segment.
