World's Greatest Wagon? - /BIG MUSCLE
• BIG MUSCLE GARAGE
Sometimes old cars break, it's just what happens. While some may see this
as an inconvenience, we here at /BIG MUSCLE took it as an opportunity to
expand our horizons, take a chance, and venture to a place we rarely
frequent - the drag strip. Our plan was to film, talk to and get an idea of
what racers go through when they run their cars down the 1,320. Everything
was going great, until that is, they told us WE could race. We showed up in
our 1992 Chevrolet Caprice wagon, aka, the Battle Wagon, so we knew we
weren't going to set any records. What we weren't prepared for though, was
the amount of fun we'd have running one of the slowest vehicles on the
planet, at one of the fastest places in Northern California.
SICK Procharged Malibu!!! 7.82 @ 189MPH
1980 Malibu owned by Scott Smith of Kansas City, powered by a 509 Steve
Morris big block Chevy & blown by a Procharger F3 135 Supercharger. These were the best passes on the
car at the time (7.82 @ 189mph), it sure is a beast! He was also winner of
the Drag Week 2011 Big Block Power Adder class!
Huge Block Malibu Wagon gets a little squirrelly on the drag strip
I don't have all the details on this car, except that they are insane to
drive this thing! I believe the engine is north of 502 cubic inches and it
has THREE Nitrous stages. On motor it
went low/mid 6's in the 1/8 and the track clocks stopped displaying (for
everyone) before they made this single stage Nitrous pass. As expected with a long, heavy
wagon, it's a handful down the track. But I will say they had this thing
hooking real good!
Car was built by Orangeman Customs in Panama City FL. I believe "turbo Dan" is driving.
