2014 Acura RLX on the dragstrip at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix. This was the dealer introduction and training for Acura sales consultants. The times shown were essentially 'hand timed' with four people in the car. I think with another run or two, we could have gotten a better launch and less weight would have helped too.

It wasn't that long ago that I had an Acura RLX for a week. If you recall
that review, I came away liking the car but found little joy in its high
price tag. Despite wearing a fantastic stitched leather interior, there was
just no way I could justify the $10,000 premium over the AWD competition
from Lincoln, Volvo and others. In an attempt to remedy the faults that
many found, Acura will be releasing the RLX Sport Hybrid in the spring. Can
a new dual clutch transmission and three electric motors save the RLX from
being a good car with the wrong price tag? Let's find out.

2014 Acura RLX Text Drive & Luxury Car Video Review
http://www.autobytel.com/acura/rlx/2014/?id=32972 The Acura RLX is an
all-new nameplate that replaces the outgoing RL as the top of the line
flagship model in the luxury car line-up. The 2014 Acura RLX features a
handful of new signature Acura Technologies designed to take this luxury
sedan to a higher level of performance and comfort. There are also some new
systems that while can be found on other cars, are new to the Acura brand.
The RLX has a base price of $48,450 but can quickly swell to over $60,000
when you add on various packages.
What is the first Japanese brand to bring a luxury car to America? You
might say Lexus or Infiniti but those answers are wrong. Honda was the
first manufacturer to bring over a luxury brand with Acura in the mid
1980's. These vehicles were not only luxurious but also very innovative.
Now we have the all new Acura RLX that sports many new features both inside
Up front the first thing that you will notice about the 2014 Acura RLX
luxury sedan are the Jewel Eye LED headlights which have a very unique
look. The bucktooth grille, which is now a common trait on Acura vehicles,
has also made its way onto the RLX. The rest of the exterior is a bit plain
and mundane but that's alright because some people do not want a luxury car
that stands out.
If there one area where Honda excels it is with engine technology. Acura
has replaced the engine from the outgoing RL with an updated version of
their V-6. This 3.5 liter engine is a bit smaller but features direct
injection and puts out more power at 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft. of
torque. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic. Fuel economy is 21 MPG in
the city and 30 MPG on the highway. One great feature on the RLX is the
P-AWS system which stands for precision all-wheel steering. What this
system does is turn the rear wheels up to 1.5 degrees for a more precise
If there is one area in which Acura excels it would be the infotainment
system. The AcuraLink system delivers all sorts of information, traffic
reports, and connects to your wireless devices. The ante has also been
upped when it comes to the interior and the quality of the materials. As
far as cargo capacity, this mid-sized luxury sedan does a good job. There
is plenty of room for 5 people plus a nice sized trunk for their
Acura has a place in the luxury car market especially for people who love
the Honda brand. The RLX may be a larger, more refined, and more luxurious
version of the award-winning Honda Accord.

2014 Acura RLX Road Test Video Review
The Acura RLX is an all-new nameplate for the Japanese luxury car
manufacturer. The RLX replaces the top of the line RL (which itself
replaced the old Legend) and competes in the mid-sized luxury sedan
category against the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Lexus GS, and Infiniti Q50.
The 2014 Acura RLX starts at under $50,000 but trims featuring various
audio and navigation packages can swell the price to over $60,000.
Learn More about the Acura RLX
The model reviewed here is the RLX featuring the Advanced Package which
gets you a host of safety, convenience, and technology features. Some of
these systems include the Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping
Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with low speed follow, heated and
ventilated seats, and parking sensors.
On the outside the 2014 Acura RLX looks much better in person than it does
in photos. But this luxury sedan still blends in with the rest of the pack
with its conservative style and mild lines. The front grill sports Acura's
signature look while the Jewel Eye LED headlights are the latest
interesting feature. The wheels are large 19-inch aluminum alloys designed
to decrease noise. Out back the standard LED taillights look like a lot of
other cars and are not very distinctive.
The engine is a 3.5 liter V-6 featuring VTEC that makes 310 horsepower and 272 lb-ft. of
torque. Fuel economy for the 2014 Acura RLX is 20 MPG in the city and 31
MPG on the highway. Cylinder deactivation is a feature designed to shut
down up to half of the engine's cylinder in an effort to save on gas.
One way that Acura is trying to differentiate itself from other luxury
manufactures is though technology packed cars. There is a laundry list of
technological features that includes Precision All-Wheel Steer, Agile
Handling Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, Rear View Camera, Acura Link,
High End Audio, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Parking
Sensors, and more.
The 2014 Acura RLX is like a big, comfortable, cushy Honda Accord. This new
flagship sedan may just have to chops to carve out a spot in a very
